MLB Baseball Betting - New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

Seventeen year veteran Mike Mussina takes the mound for the New York Yankees on Saturday. Mussina is no stranger to wins. He has 251 wins in his career. That ties him for 41st on the all-time list with Bob Gibson. Good for Mike Mussina. Of course, it may not help him at all in this game as the Boston Red Sox send their ace, Josh Beckett, to the mound.
Beckett hasn’t started off the year very well. In his lone start of the season Beckett gave up 5 runs in only 4.2 innings of work. He finished the game with a 9.46 ERA. Beckett, however, is a winner. That means that he can’t do much worse on Saturday versus the Yanks then he did in his first start of the season.
Below are my personal MLB betting lines for this game.
New York Yankees
Mike Mussina – R + 1 ½ - 150 + 125 O 10 ½
Boston Red Sox
Josh Beckett – R - 1 ½ + 125 - 145 U 10 ½
Both teams have power. So, automatically, I like the BetUS over. I doubt that the BetUS over will be higher then the 10 ½ I’ve listed as my personal line. My thinking is that the BetUS over/under should settle around 8 ½ to 9 ½.
Since I’m listing my wagering line at over/under 10 ½, it’s pretty obvious what I’m thinking. The Red Sox line-up should have no trouble against Mike Mussina. Also, since the Yankee’s top pitcher, Chen-Ming Wang, takes the mound Friday night, there’s a good chance that the Red Sox will go into this game with revenge on their minds. They should take Mussina to school in this game.
The Yankees have power up and down their line-up. Beckett could turn in one of those super-solid performances or, because he is pitching against the hated rival Yankees, he could fall flat on his face and give up homerun after homerun. I see this game as being an offensive battle with both starting pitchers leaving the game in the 5th inning.
Once it gets to the bullpens expect even more runs to come in.
