MLB Baseball Betting - Minnesota at Chicago White Sox

by Charles Jay

BetUS MLB baseball betting odds: Chicago -150, Minnesota +130, Total 9 (Over -120, Under - Even)

The Chicago White Sox (5-2) have gotten off to a surprisingly fast start, and they will try to improve upon that on Wednesday night when they take on the Minnesota Twins (3-5) in an American League game that starts at 8:10 PM ET at U.S. Cellular Field in the Windy City (natural turf).

Right-hander Scott Baker (1-0, 4.05 ERA) will gets the start for the visiting Twins, while the White Sox will counter with southpaw John Danks (0-0, 1.35 ERA).

At BetUS Sportsbook, the White Sox are listed as a -150 favorite (Minnesota is +130), with a total of nine runs (the Over is -120, the Under is even money).

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

(NOTE: These trends may also revert back to the 2007 season)

* MINN has played four of its last six games UNDER the total

* MINN has played 11 of its last 16 games UNDER the total

* MINN has lost five of its last seven road games

* CHI has won its last five games

* CHI has played six of its last eight games OVER the total

* CHI has won five of its last six home games

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD baseball betting trends:

* CHI has won seven of the last nine meetings

* Five of the last seven meetings have gone OVER the total

* CHI has won five of the last six meetings as the home team

* The home team has won six of the last nine meetings

* Three of the last four meetings in Chicago have gone OVER the total

Scott Baker showed great control against the Royals in his first outing, yielding no walks in 6-2/3 innings with three earned runs allowed. Of course, he did go through a stretch last year where he gave up 24 hits and 16 runs against the White Sox in just ten innings of work. With all the trades the Twins have had a tough time getting themselves started, as they are averaging a shade less than three runs per game right now.

Danks is one of those pitchers who would be a big surprise if he continued to produce as he did in his first start, where he surrendered just two hits and a run in 6-2/3 innings. His WHIP ratio has never been that good, even in the minor leagues, and he throws a lot of fly balls to hitters. His team has been playing a lot better though; in fact, Chicago has been the highest scoring team in the American League, averaging 6.4 runs a game.

Minnesota has not quite found its hitting shoes, and has gotten only 10 runners on base per game. That's not going to create opportunities, and unless Baker can turn things around from his recent form against the Pale Hose, they're going down again.

So we'll lay -150 with Chicago in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
