MLB Baseball Betting - Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs

Everything went right for the Brewers in their wild online betting affair with the Cubs last night. They got the big hit seemingly every time their backs were against the wall, and their pitching staff got a number of gracious calls from home plate ump Paul Nauert that had Lou Piniella on the brink of eruption in the later stages of the game. When it was all said and done, the Brewers picked up their 15th win of the season in the 10-7 victory, and now sit just one-game in back of the NL Central Division leading Cubs. Even though Ben Sheets was wild (K/BB ratio of 2/7) in his first stint back from the DL, he received the victory to improve to 4-0 on the year with a 1.64 ERA. Jason Marquis suffered the loss, his first of the year, and had nothing to blame but his control in the post-game conference. He only walked one batter, but he left balls up in the zone that Milwaukee crushed to the tune of 10 hits and five earned runs. The Brewers bullpen got the job done when needed, but the Cubs pen was squeezed like a ripe orange, forcing them to walk three that led directly to three more earned runs. With the victory, the Brewers are now 3-1 against the Cubs this season and they look ripe to go on a major run now that their roster is 100% healthy.

Looking to keep the good times going for the Brew Crew will be Jeff Suppan who gets the starting nod in the second game of the series. He enters tonight start 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA allowing 29 hits and 12 ER’s with a K/BB ratio of 12/11 in 31 innings of work. Milwaukee has won four of his five starts this season. Dating back to last season, Suppan is 5-1 with a 3.69 ERA in his L/11 starts. His lone win of this year came at the Cubs' expense, an 8-2 Brewers win at Wrigley Field on April 2 in which Suppan allowed two runs (on a pair of solo homers) on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. In his career against the Cubs, Suppan is 6-5 with a 3.13 ERA and a WHIP of 1.401.

Opposing him will be the Cubs Ryan Dempster who continues to shine in the starting role after closing for the last few seasons. He comes into tonight’s start 3-0 with a 2.90 ERA allowing 18 hits and 10 ER’s with a K/BB ratio of 21/14 in 31 innings of work. He matched his longest stint of the season his last time out against the Washington Nationals (7 innings, 4 hits, 2 ER’s) but got tagged with a no decision in a game the Cubs lost on a walk-off two-run homer. He beat the Brewers in his first appearance back in the starting rotation this season, and in his career, he’s 5-1 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.267 WHIP in nine starts against Milwaukee.

Chicago currently sits a –140 home chalk in Game 2 of this three game set with the ‘total’ set at 10 over –115. You can get down on both the ‘side’ and ‘total’ at BetUS.com right now!!!

Milwaukee is 2-4 in road games when tagged an underdog between +100 and +125, while the Cubs have made their backers some coin going 4-2 when priced a home chalk between –125 to –150 this season. However, the Brewers are a perfect 7-0 in Suppan’s L/7 starts against the NL Central.
