MLB Baseball Betting - Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
This is the second start of the year for former Japanese player of the year Hiroki Kuroda. He sure looked good in that Dodger uniform in his first start when pitching seven innings. Kuroda only allowed 3 hits and finished the evening with a 1.29 ERA. Kuroda is 33 years old which means he has enough experience to know when to throw the fastball, slider, or sinker. He’s excellent at getting batters to hit ground balls.
The Diamondbacks will have their work cut out for them in this game. But they might be sending the right man to the mound to do it for them. Micah Owings was as sensational as Kuroda in his first start of the year. Owings pitched 6.2 innings, gave up only 2 hits, and struck out 9 batters. Granted, one of those 2 hits was a home-run, but, hey, nobody’s perfect, right? Owings still finished the game with only a 1.35 ERA.

The obvious bet is Owings as the D’Backs are at home for this game, but I don’t like it. The truth is that both Owings and Kuroda are pretty even in terms of how well they can pitch. In fact both the D’Backs and the Dodgers are even in terms of how well each of them bat, pitch, manage, etc.
These teams are a lot alike which means that the best wager in this game is the BetUS Under at 9 runs. Granted, these teams have the bats to go nuts - - their Tuesday game finished Dodgers 5 and D’Backs 10 - - but Kuroda and Owings are two solid pitchers. Kuroda should be good for at least 6 to 7 innings in this game. Owings should be good for at least 6 to 7 innings as well.
I’m thinking a 1 to 1 or 2 to 2 score going into the 7th inning. To me that spells under as the D’Backs no doubt will use Brandon Lyon should they need him towards the end of the game.
Make no mistake, overall the D’Backs have a better rotation, but Kuroda is as solid as any starter the Dodgers are likely to throw at Arizona.
I think Kuroda and Owings get into a nice pitchers’ duel in which case this game goes under.
