The big bats for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim might be silenced on Monday night as the Cleveland Indians send Fausto Carmona to the mound. Both of these guys figure to bring a lot of heat. Carmona has a fastball clocked at 93 mph. Saunders is just a really tough, young pitcher. Because of those factors, I find it difficult to separate the two of these guys. I do think that this game will be a closely contested, very fast-paced, pitchers’ duel.
Neither Carmona nor Saunders has an advantage in this game. Even though the Angels are playing at home for this game, they don’t have much of an advantage either since the Indians’ clean-up hitter, Victor Martinez, figures to return to the line-up for the Indians. In any case, neither Carmona nor Saunders is going to have a bad outing. Both pitchers are mentally tough.
Because of that the BetUS MLB wager odds that makes the most sense is taking the BetUS over/under at 8 ½ runs. Although I wish I could make a case for Carmona giving up 1 ½ runs and getting odds, these two teams appear so close in terms of talent that giving up any runs at all could blow my wager out of the water.
I have to go with my instincts which tells me that Fausto Carmona and Joe Saunders will each put in at least 7 innings of good, hard work. Those 7 innings will lead to a squeaker of a win for one of these teams.
