MLB Baseball Betting - Colorado Rockies vs. San Diego Padres
By D.S Williamson
Jake Peavy is awesome. Anyone involved in BetUS online baseball betting should just go ahead and bet on Peavy every time he pitches. He’s going for his fourth victory in a row tonight and is the cornerstone of the San Diego Padres’ terrific starting rotation. As a group, the Padres ERA is 2.20. Most of that is due to the stellar play of Jake Peavy. In three games so far this season, Peavy has given up 14 hits and 4 runs, with an ERA of 1.67. That makes the reigning Cy Young Award winner the favorite once again.
Who do the Rockies send to the mound to counter Peavy? Jeff Francis. Once again I have to write that Francis just isn’t very good. The Rockies got lucky last year by making it to the World Series. The N.L. is much tougher this year. By not making a point and signing a shut-down pitcher, the Rockies have consigned themselves to the bottom of the N.L. West Division. Francis has been horrible in two starts this year giving up 19 hits, 12 runs and 6 home-runs for an ERA of 9.53.
Let’s take a look at the BetUS lines.
Colorado Rockies
Jeff Francis – L + 1 ½ - 130 + 145 O 7
San Diego Padres
Jake Peavy – R - 1 ½ + 110 - 165 U 7
Not only can the Rockies’ pitchers not shut anybody down, but their batters can’t bring home any runs. In their 13 games so far this season the Rockies have only scored 46 runs. That’s an average of 3.5 runs a game. It’s the lowest total out of every team in major league baseball.
Yes, lower then the San Diego Padres who don’t have a lot of power in their line-up.
I’m going to forget the BetUS over/under, though, because I do like the idea of Jake Peavy getting above even money in a game. Yes, I understand that I’ll have to give up the run and a half, but this is Jake Peavy we’re talking about. Like Josh Beckett going against the Yankees today, Peavy should have an incredibly strong outing at Petco Park.
Peavy’s ERA against Colorado last year at Petco was a stellar 1.29. Peavy should get some run support from his team as they get to rock Jeff Francis tonight.
The BetUS MLB Betting line is Jake Peavy – 1 ½ runs + 110 at home against the San Diego Padres.
I like Peavy to shut-down the Rockies and for the Padres to light it up against Jeff Francis.
I have no problem giving up the run and a half on Jake Peavy.
