Inside MLB Baseball Betting –Top Starters to Bet on Every Time!
by Eric Williams
These Guys Are Money! As the BetUS MLB betting community already knows, there is absolutely nothing like a ‘lights out’ major league starting pitcher that can almost guarantee bettors a wagering win every time they take the mound.
Though the 2008 MLB sports betting season is just approaching the one-quarter mark of the regular season, several outstanding pitchers have lit up the BetUS Sportsbook with their commanding, baseball bankroll-increasing performances that have often left their opponents dazed and confused but bettors jumping for joy while waiting in anticipation of their next schedule start.
Here is a look at the top Money pitchers in all of baseball in the early going of the 2008 MLB season.
1. Livan Hernandez – Minnesota Twins, 8-1
Hernandez has gone an impressive 6-1 in his first season pitching in the American League, compiling a decent 3.90 ERA in nine starts covering 57.2 innings, while allowing over four earned runs in just one outing this season.
2. Daisuke Matsuzaka – Boston Red Sox, 8-0
Matsuzaka is 6-0 in eight starts covering 47.2 innings with 40 strikeouts, 30 walks and a solid 2.45 ERA. Despite his penchant for walking batters this season, Matsuaka’s low ERA should please bettors and encourage them to wager on the Red Sox whenever he takes the mound.
3. Vicente Padilla – Texas Rangers, 7-2
Padilla is 5-2 in nine starts covering 55.2 innings with 35 strikeouts, 19 walks and a respectable ERA of 3.23.
I’ve covered Padilla for years and I have to admit that he is finally getting a grasp of the metal aspect of big league pitching to go along with his overpowering fastball.
4. Brandon Webb – Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-0
Webb is 8-0 in eight starts covering 56.0 innings with 41 strikeouts, 16 walks and a respectable 2.41 ERA. Simply put, MLB bettors, I believe Brandon Webb is the best pitcher in the National League and arguably, all of baseball.
5. Scott Olsen – Florida Marlins, 7-1
Olsen is 4-1 in eight starts covering 54.2 innings with 24 strikeouts, 21 walks and a respectable ERA of 2.63. Olsen’s low ERA tell me he’s very for real - and so are the young Florida Marlins. Until I see otherwise, I say stick with Olsen and the Marlins.
6. Aaron Cook – Colorado Rockies, 7-1
Cook is 6-1 in eight starts covering 55.2 innings with 23 strikeouts, 17 walks and a solid ERA of 2.26. While Cook has been the Rockies’ best starter this season and not staff ace Jeff Francis, I say watch this kid and his team carefully as the Rockies are certainly not the same team that took the National League by storm last season to reach the first World Series in franchise history.
7. Joe Saunders – Los Angeles Angels, 7-1
Saunders is 6-1 in eight starts covering 54.1 innings with 24 strikeouts, 14 walks and a solid 2.48 ERA. Saunders is a legitimate near-No. 1 starter and has pitched like one this season. His low ERA tells me the Angels only have to score a few runs when he takes the mound in order to pick up the victory. Stick with Saunders and the Angels when he takes the mound.
8. Chien-Ming Wang – New York Yankees, 7-1
Wang is 6-1 in eight starts covering 52.0 innings with 36 strikeouts, 16 walks and a decent 3.12 ERA. I’ve been saying it for the last two seasons - other than Chien-Ming Wang, no other Yankees pitchers scares me these days at all. However, Ming-Wang Is nearly guaranteed to win every time he takes the mound.
