Horse Racing Odds - Padding Your Bankroll

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and he will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers.

There is some rain in the forecast for the Big Apple for today, but that will not slow us down from trying to pad our bankroll.

The middle leg of today’s late Pick 3 looks chalky, so we will play a $3 ticket to totals $36 as we hope to bang the payoff three times from our usual $1 unit.

Today’s featured race as some appeal if we sneak our longshot Parky (10/1) into the mix.

Today's Featured Race of the Day:

AQU Race 7 OClm $75,000N1X (3:55 et)

#7 Spurrier 7/2

#2 Icabad Crane 2/1

#5 Parky 10/1

#1 Elixir / #1a Loaves and Dishes 4/1

Analysis: #7 Spurrier came with a good wide run and drew off late to break his maiden last out in his fourth career start, which came over a "good" inner surface. The runner up in the race was #6 Sebastian Cat, who came back to graduate in his next outing on 2/17. Pletcher colt is bred to like a wet track and looks primed for a good effort here in his third start of his current form cycle.

#2 Icabad Crane steps into open Alw-1 company after handling state breds in his first two career starts. Came up the rail with a good late rally to beat Alw-1 NY breds last out in a good-looking effort. The third place finisher Duke de Buqe returned to graduate in his next outing on 2/8. The $110K purchase is in good hands with Motion barn and this guy has been prepping at Fair Hill since his last start, returning here off a seven-week break.

Wagering

WIN: #7 to win at 5/2 or better.

EX: 2,7 / 1,2,5,7

TRI: 2,7 / 1,2,5,7 / 1,2,4,5,7

Aqueduct Late Pick 3

Starting in Race 7: $3: 2,5,7 / 1 / 2,4,6,7 = $36

AQU Race 7 OClm $75,000N1X (3:55 et)

#7 Spurrier, #2 Icabad Crane, #5 Parky

(for analysis see today’s featured race)

AQU Race 8 OClm $50,000N2X (4:25 et)

#1 Ghost Dancing

#1 Ghost Dancing suffered a tough beat last out at Philly, beaten just a nose for the top spot. Earned the top last out speed fig in the effort and three of her last four speed figs make her tough to beat in here. She owns a solid pace profile throughout with the edge in early and sustained pace numbers.

AQU Race 9 Md $25,000 (4:55 et)

#4 Jets Only, #7 Timber Ferry, #6 Say Karakorum Sandy, #2 Fast Wheels

#4 Jets Only made a mild late rally to finish third last out over an inside speed favoring racing strip. The runner up in the race was Tricky Tuck, who came back to graduate in his next outing on 2/17 versus $15K state breds. This gelding has landed in the money in 7 of his 9 career starts and may have finally found a field he can actually beat. We have to back "No Go" in the irons.

#7 Timber Ferry stumbled coming out of the gate and was not a threat last out. Two back ran second going a mile, no match for a winner who drew clear to win by a dozen lengths. Blinkers added to the mix here for Levine barn that is 22% winners when adding the hood.

Live Longshots:

These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.

AQU R4: #5 Uhatemecuzuaintme 8/1

AQU R4: #7 Chaffeur Force 10/1

AQU R5: #9 Suggestion Lisa 8/1

AQU R6: #8 Fly Pass 30/1

AQU R7: #5 Parky 10/1

AQU R9: #6 Say Karakorum Sandy 8/1

Good luck padding your bankroll today!
