NHL Betting - Sabres Rolling in Eastern Conference
by BetUS Staff
The Buffalo Sabres began the month of November with six losses in seven games, but if you’ve stuck with them for your NHL betting you’ve since been rewarded with five straight victories. The Sabres will now be gunning for their sixth straight win when they take on the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night, and they’ll also be looking to provide a boost for their BetUS.com NHL odds to win the Eastern Conference championship this year.
Buffalo is currently pegged at just +1400 odds to be the East’s representative in the Stanley Cup final next spring, a number which stagnated along with the team over the first month and a half of the schedule. With the Sabres back at the .500 mark, though, those odds should begin to improve – assuming they can keep up their winning ways.
Six teams sit above the Sabres on the current Eastern Conference odds list – the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens. And despite their recent slide the Sens sit as the big favorites for that prop – they’re at only +120 to claim the East once again.
The Rangers, who are currently tied with the Flyers atop the Atlantic Division, are second at +500 odds, with Philly next at +600. The Hurricanes, who are the leaders of the Southeast Division right now, are just a bit behind those top teams with +650 odds.
Sidney Crosby and the Penguins are behind the Sabres in the standings right now, but they’re ahead of them on these NHL lines at +800 to win the conference. The Wizard of Croz is right up there with the league scoring leaders, but his team has had a tough time keeping pucks out of their own net. Those odds will slip if the Pens continue to struggle.
The Canadiens have been beaten by the Sabres three times in the past 10 days, and with play like that they might not stay at +1200 conference championship odds much longer. Montreal is just ahead of the likes of New Jersey and Tampa Bay, who are at +1500 odds, while each of Atlanta, Toronto, Boston, and the Islanders are at +2500. The Florida Panthers (+3500) and lowly Washington Capitals (+5000) round out the list.
Buffalo’s Wednesday, opponent, the Blues, have been on a bit of a tear themselves, with six wins in their past seven games. That stretch hasn’t pushed St. Louis up to the top of the Western Conference odds list, but they’re now in the middle of the pack at +2000. The leader of that prop bet, though, is one of the Blues’ Central Division rivals.
And that’d be the Detroit Red Wings, who currently have the most points in the Western Conference and sit with just +200 odds to advance to this year’s Stanley Cup final. However, the Red Wings had lost five of their past seven games heading into play on Tuesday night, so they could see those odds take a little hit over the next several weeks.
Waiting to take over the top spot are both the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks, who each have +450 odds to win the West this season. The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche are just back of those teams at +700 odds, while the Vancouver Canucks round out the current top tier of conference contenders with their +900 odds.
The Dallas Stars have been making their move up the West standings, but that hasn’t really been reflected yet with their +1200 on these NHL odds. That ties them with the Calgary Flames on this prop bet, with the Chicago Blackhawks moving up to +1500 odds. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators are both at +2000, while the Kings, Coyotes, and Oilers round out the West’s odds list at +5000, +7500, and +10000.
