NFL Week 14 Odds – Dolphins vs. Bills

The Miami Dolphins lost what little chance they had at winning a game this season when the hapless New York Jets came down to Florida last week and ripped a new one on the home squad. To make matters worse, Zach Thomas, one of the two best defensive players on the Dolphins, was placed on IR yesterday due to migraines he has been suffering since his car accident earlier this season. The Bills, meanwhile, have only gotten better since the two teams met almost a month ago when the Bills slipped out of Miami with a close, three-point win; barely enough to cover the NFL betting line at the time, of 2.5 points.

Miami Dolphins +7 at Buffalo Bills –7

Going back over the past twenty games the Bills have played, it becomes clear that, although not an elite-level team, Buffalo is definitely better than average. In that span, the Bills are 10-10 SU and 14-6 ATS, but the most telling aspect of these games is the teams they have lost to. The four teams they lost to last season were all playoff teams except the Titans, who were near the end of a great run to end the season. This year, they have lost six games thus far, and only one of the teams who have beaten them– Denver, who are 9th in the AFC – sit lower than fourth in their conference standings. They have lost to the Patriots twice.

The football betting line here of seven points in favor of the home team may seem a little high at first glance because the Bills have played a lot of close games. One must keep in mind, though, that the Bills have one of the toughest schedules in all of football and are in the playoff hunt. They do not need much more motivation than to know how close they are to getting into the playoffs. All they need to do is not slip up. With their home crowd behind them, and a Dolphins team already looking towards the draft next spring, one touchdown won’t seem like much at all by the time this one ends.
