NFL Betting - XBOX 360 Game Simulation NY Giants at Dallas

NFC Divisional Playoff, New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys 1:00 ET CBS.
Weather: Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s.

1st Quarter:

The Cowboys won the toss and elected to receive.

DAL 1st Drive @ own 20: The Cowboys looked to RB Julius Jones on its first two plays, and he set the offense up with a very manageable 3rd and short of which was converted when QB Tony Romo found TE Jason Witten for 15 yards in the middle of the field. Texas Stadium was then witness to a RB Jones 56-yard scamper to pay dirt and the Cowboys held a 7-0 lead before the crowd could get comfy in their seats.

NYG 1st Drive @ own 38: RB/KR Ahmad Bradshaw set the Giants up with fabulous field position for the first drive of the game after he returned the kick-off all the way out to their own 38-yard line. However, the Giants let it be known that they’re still the Giants committing a false start on their initial play. QB Eli Manning was behind the chains already, but he managed to get a 1st down when he found a wide open WR David Tyree for 15 yards. The drive then fizzled out and Jeff Feagles punt soared through the end zone setting the Cowboys up at their own 20 for their second drive of the game.

DAL 2nd Drive @ own 20: QB Romo welcomed WR Terry Glenn back to the starting offense with a 21-yard strike on their first play from scrimmage. RB Julius Jones made the Giants “D” pay for keying in on the pass with a 13-yard rumble for another Dallas 1st down. TO let it be known he was in the house gimpy foot and all, and hauled in a 23-yard offering from Romo that set the Cowboys up nicely with another 1st down at NY’s 22. Romo looked to get the ball to TE Jason Witten on their next play but he was double-covered, so he checked down to WR Sam Hurd who snared the pass at the 5-yard line and dove to pay dirt for his first ever post-season TD reception. NYG 0 DAL 14

NYG 2nd Drive @ own 28: Originally, it looked as if DE Marcus Spears forced a fumble before Eli Manning could get rid of it, but further review showed it was an incomplete pass and Head Coach Tom Coughlin won a challenge for a change. RB Brandon Jacobs got stuffed for a two yard loss to set up 3rd and long, but then lightning struck. Eli heaved the ball downfield and WR Plaxico Burress outleaped a pair of Dallas defenders for the ball, hauled it in, and scampered into the endzone for what turned out to be a 74-yard TD reception. Game on!!! NYG 7 DAL 14

DAL 3rd Drive @ own 20: Only a minute remained in the quarter when the Cowboys took over. QB Romo connected with TE Witten for 12 and WR Patrick Crayton for 23 before he inexplicably forced a screen pass to RB Marion Barber and it was deflected into the waiting arms of NY LB Antonio Pierce at the NY 43.

END OF 1ST QUARTER

2nd QUARTER

NYG 3rd Drive @ own 43: The offense immediately looked to RB Jacobs once again after he bolted for the big score in their last drive. The next seven plays went to Jacobs via pass/ground, but he was only able to get them to the 25 for a manageable 42-yard FG attempt. Lawrence Tynes kick was true, and the Giants cut the Cowboys lead to four. NYG 10 DAL 14

DAL 4th Drive @ own 31: The Cowboys took the field looking to seize back some of the momentum they had just lost to their rivals. They picked up three consecutive 1st downs highlighted by another 21-yard reception by WR Glenn. RB’s Jones and Barber were held to nine yards, and Head Coach Wade Phillips had to settle for a 36-yard FG attempt with only 3 seconds left before the half. Kicker Nick Folk split the uprights down the middle, and “The Boys” held a 7-point lead at the break. NYG 10 DAL 17

HALFTIME SCORE DALLAS 17 NEW TORK 10

QB Tony Romo: 9/11 for 125 1 TD 1 INT QB Rating 105.3

WR Plaxico Burress: 1 reception for 74 Yds 1 TD

WR Terrell Owens: 2 receptions for 28 Yds

3rd QUARTER

NYG 4th Drive @ own 27: Another TD was put on the board before most of the fans could return to their seats after taking trips to the restrooms and food stands. This time it was the Giants doing the scoring as RB Brandon Jacobs busted through a couple of arm tackles and didn’t stop running until he crossed the goal line 72-yards later. NY stated throughout the entire week that they’ll be incredibly tough to beat for a third time this season, but now their actions are speaking louder than those words and they have the Cowboys full attention. NYG 17 DAL 17

DAL 5th Drive @ own 25: With the game now tied, Dallas looked tight even though they picked up a 1st down with a 6-Yd gain by RB Jones and a 17-yard throw and catch to WR Hurd. QB Romo zoned in on WR Owens on their next play and paid dearly for it. A nicked up CB Sam Madison picked off the pass and returned it to the Cowboys 47-yard line putting a very hot Giants offense back in business.

NYG 5th Drive @ DAL 47: The 1-2 punch of RB Jacobs and FB Madison Hedgecock battered the Cowboys defense on the ground and through the air until Manning found Plaxico for a 7-yard pass setting them up 1st and Goal at the Dallas 2. RB Jacobs plunged into the endzone for his second TD of the game and the Giants held the lead for the first time. NYG 24 DAL 17

DAL 6th Drive @ own 31: The Cowboys showed no signs of life offensively after trailing for the first time. It seemed the Cowboys bubble had burst, and they went three and out leaving the fans questioning the play calling that just occurred. Punter Mat McBriar’s punt was downed at the Giants 29-yard line.

END OF 3rd QUARTER

4TH QUARTER

NYG 6th Drive @ own 29: RB Brandon Jacobs took matters into his own hands on the very next play, and bolted up the middle of the Cowboys defense en route to the end zone for a 71-yard TD run. The guy was running on fumes towards the end of his jaunt with a pair of Dallas defenders hanging on him for dear life. It was certainly a sight to see, and a huge play that pretty much ended this mystery.
NYG 31 DAL 17

DAL 7th Drive @ own 26: The offense took the field aggressively and looked more like the unit that built a 10-point lead in the 1st half. RB’s Jones and Barber dinked and dunked their way to the Giants 43 yard line, and then a big play went the way of “The Boys”. TO was pulled to the ground by CB Madison in the left corner of the endzone and it looked as if every referee on the field threw their yellow hanky. The ball was placed at the 1-yard line, and RB Jones took the plunge to cut the Giants lead to seven. NYG 31 DAL 24

NYG 7th Drive @ own 28: With all three timeouts left, HC Phillips elected to kick it deep and lean on his defense for a quick stop. It wasn’t meant to be however as there was no stopping the Brandon Jacobs express. After Eli hooked up with WR Amani Toomer for 21-yards, Jacobs did the rest and high stepped his way into the endzone from 51-yards out. It was a career day for Mr. Jacobs, and one that will no doubt go into the record books. NYG 38 DAL 24

DAL 8th Drive @ own 20: With only three and change left on the clock and the Cowboys down 14, many people had already left their seats and looked to beat the traffic home. They were right in doing so because all they missed was another Dallas drive end in a turnover when Gibril Wilson intercepted Romo in the endzone ultimately allowing the Giants to run out the clock and earn a bid to play in the NFC Championship.
