NFL Betting Odds: Week 7 Home Dogs
By Dave Golokhov
Vanderbilt was close, but no cigar, as one of my dog picks (+240). A last-second field goal snuffed out those prospects. Let’s get back at it and try to hit a dog this week.
Record: 8-3 (+870)
West Virginia Mountaineers (-2500) @ Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs actually have a nice defense but their problems lie on offense. If West Virginia hangs a number on Mississippi State, they aren’t capable of coming back. The Mountaineers offense has only been slowed by one opponent, South Florida, and these Bulldogs are not those Bulls. I like the Mountaineers to run wild.
NCAA Football Free Pick: Mountaineers -2500
Tennessee Volunteers @ Alabama Crimson Tide (+1.5 -110)
In an old school SEC rivalry, I’ll take the home dog. This is a battle of two teams that are tied for first place in their respective divisions in the SEC and clearly, there will be a lot on the line. Alabama hasn’t been particularly impressive in their wins, but they’ve got the job done. On the other hand, Tennessee’s offense is really starting to gel, especially now that Erik Ainge is getting all the time he needs to throw. Tennessee has played three road games and lost two of them (@California & @Florida) and their defense didn’t look so sharp at Mississippi State last week. I like Saban’s boys to get it done at home.
NCAA Football Free Pick: Crimson Tide +1.5 -110
Oklahoma Sooners (-10000) @ Iowa State Cyclones
For the Sooners, this is strictly a battle of focus. They outclass the Cyclones in virtually every category and just have to make sure that they don’t fall asleep. The good news is that they already had their letdown game a few weeks ago to Colorado, and the fact that Texas A&M lost last week kind of dissolves the sandwich factor, since A&M has two losses. I like the Sooners to roll.
NCAA Football Free Pick: Sooners -10000
Auburn Tigers (+330) @ LSU Tigers
LSU is stinging after their triple-overtime loss last week and for a third consecutive week, has to deal with a rugged SEC opponent. LSU’s passing game has gone to the dogs since top wideout Early Doucet has been sidelined and Auburn’s defense is stellar against the run. Points will be hard to come by for LSU, even if they figure out their passing game. LSU had to gamble against Florida and Kentucky, and eventually that will catch up with Les Miles. Auburn has won four straight and is hot right now.
NCAA Football Free Pick: Auburn +330
