NFL Betting Odds: Week 7 Home Dogs

Home dogs had a rough go of it in Week 6 as only the Kansas City Chiefs were able to cover in that role. There are four home dogs in Week 7 and two have got an excellent shot of not only covering, but winning outright.

Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills (+4)

Trent Edwards is now the starting in Buffalo and now that he is the official guy, and not just the fill in, there will be some added pressure since he is the perceived future of the franchise. But he’s not facing the ferocious Baltimore Ravens of old; this is a much softer version. For starters, Trevor Pryce and Chris McAllister won’t be playing. Secondly, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs are falling short of their Pro Bowl form. On offense, the Ravens have been lost and scored only one touchdown at home against the hapless St. Louis Rams. As long as the Bills avoid mistakes, they will be in this game until the end.

NFL Free Pick: Buffalo +4

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins (+18)

It’s a bad time right now to be a member of the Miami Dolphins. Not only are they winless so far this season, they just traded away their best receiving weapon, Chris Chambers, and seem to be heading for worse things before they get any better. Now they have to face the New England Patriots, who have been shredding everything in their path and covering huge numbers. I’m going to stick with New England until they show me otherwise.

NFL Free Pick: New England -18

Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans (+1.5)

The Houston Texans have lost three of their last four and will try to get back on the winning page on Sunday. They get one of their playmakers back, Jacoby Jones, and will need him in the passing game since they might not be able to run against the NFL’s top run defense. I think the main difference here is Vince Young, who might not even play on Sunday. Even if he does play he won’t be completely healthy, which will curtail his ability to move around in the pocket. The Texans are desperate for a win and should get it done at home.

NFL Free Pick: Texans +1.5

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos (+4.5)

The Broncos are off an embarrassing home loss and had the bye week to think things through. This Sunday night, they’ll be commemorating Darrent Williams and Damien Nash, two former teammates that died this offseason. I don’t think the Broncos are as bad as we’ve seen and I’ll gladly take them as big dogs at home. Invesco Field is a tough place to play and they should be jacked up for a Sunday night game. I know the Steelers are a good team but they lost in Arizona – they can lose here too.

NFL Free Pick: Broncos +4.5

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars (+4)

While the Jaguars have looked strong the past few weeks, I would like the Colts to bring them back down to earth on Monday Night Football. The Colts are off of a bye week, which was desperately needed to get Joseph Addai, Marvin Harrison and Bob Sanders healthy. I think the key here is the Jaguars safeties, which have been a weakness so far this season. The Colts may not be able to run the ball but they should be able to exploit the Jags secondary for big plays. The Jags are not built to play from behind.

NFL Free Pick: Colts -4
