NFL Betting Tips – Week 13 Home Dogs
By Dave Golokhov
Five more home dogs on the schedule for this week, none bigger than the seven points that the San Diego Chargers are laying in Kansas City. Let’s take a look at this week’s home dogs:
San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs (+7)
The Kansas City Chiefs are off a tough home loss to the Oakland Raiders but the good news for them is that not many teams lose back-to-back games at home. Since 2000, the Chiefs are 15-1 in December home games and it has been 13 years since the last time the San Diego Chargers won in Denver and in Kansas City in the same season. The Chargers need turnovers to be successful on offense – if they don’t get those, they struggle. Look for the Chiefs to keep this one close.
Pick: Kansas City +7
Cleveland Browns @ Arizona Cardinals (+1.5)
The Cardinals should have won last week had head coach Ken Whisenhunt not mismanaged the end of the game. This week they get a resilient Cleveland Browns squad that continues to check something off of their to-do list each week. The Cardinals are only 3-10 in their last 13 games against winning teams and not having Pro Bowler Adrian Wilson for the rest of the season is going to hurt.
Pick: Cleveland -1.5
Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders (+4.5)
The Broncos are off of a gut-wrenching loss last Sunday and now they head to the West Coast for their second of back-to-back road games. Mike Shanahan hates the Raiders with a passion and has dominated this series since taking the reigns in Denver. The Raiders are 1-16 in their last 17 AFC West matchups and have scored only four offensive touchdowns in their last five games against Denver.
Pick: Denver -4.5
New York Giants @ Chicago Bears (+1.5)
At this point, laying points with the New York Giants at home is a risky proposition – never mind on the road. Look for the Chicago Bears to build off of their performance last week and keep Eli Manning in a slump. The Giants have sunk into their typical late-season swoon and going to Soldier Field has rarely been a cure for that ailment. Without a productive running game on the road is a recipe for failure.
Pick: Chicago +1.5
New England Patriots @ Baltimore Ravens (+20.5)
The Philadelphia Eagles played with the New England Patriots last week but don’t expect the Baltimore Ravens to do the same. The Patriots score 30 points regardless of who their opponent is while for the Ravens, 10 points is a struggle. With shoddy quarterbacking, the Ravens have been turning over the ball with consistency – that’s a bad omen for the Ravens, even if they are at home.
Pick: New England -20.5
