NFL Betting Action - Monday Night Football Feature

Good thing there’s still NFL betting, otherwise there wouldn’t be too much interest in this week’s Monday Night Football meeting between the lowly Saints and the worse Falcons.

The Saints entered the weekend behind or tied with 11 other teams in the NFC, and with Reggie Bush possibly done for the season with a knee injury their chances of advancing to the postseason look very slim. The Falcons, meanwhile, will likely consider this season a success if they just manage to avoid having the conference’s worst mark.

However, the oddsmakers at BetUS think that Atlanta will continue their losing ways on Monday night, as they’ve been pegged as 4.5-point home underdogs against New Orleans. The total for the game has been set at 42.5 points, with the OVER/UNDER for the Saints sitting at 24.5 points and the OVER/UNDER for the Falcons at just 20 points.

New Orleans, though, hasn’t had much success covering spreads over the past month. The Saints are just 1-3 against-the-spread in their past four games, covering in a 31-6 win over the Panthers but not paying off for their supporters in losses to the Rams, Texans, and Buccaneers. New Orleans was tagged with ATS losses in each of their first four games this year, before rebounding slightly with a 3-1 ATS mark in their next four.

Expectations were low for Atlanta this season, so they were actually able to go 6-3 against-the-spread in their first nine games of the year. However, putting money down on the Falcons failed to be a profitable exercise in the middle of November; Atlanta has gone 0-3 ATS in their past three games, in losses to the Buccaneers, Colts, and Rams.

Do you like New Orleans’ chances of covering that 4.5-point spread on the road on Monday? You can get +300 odds on the Saints winning the game by six or less points in the BetUS NFL props section. Here are all of New Orleans’ available winning margins . . .

Saints to win by 1-6 points --- +300

Saints to win by 7-12 points --- +350

Saints to win by 13-18 points --- +500

Saints to win by 19-24 points --- +800

Saints to win by 31-36 points --- +1800

You can get better odds, however, if you pick the Falcons to win by a certain number of points on Monday. Atlanta winning by six or fewer points is the obvious favorite at +350 odds, while 7 to 12 points is at +500. Here are all their available winning margins . . .

Falcons to win by 1-6 points --- +350

Falcons to win by 7-12 points --- +500

Falcons to win by 13-18 points --- +800

Falcons to win by 19-24 points --- +1800

You can also wager on what you think will be the first scoring play on Monday night. Correctly guessing that the Saints will open the scoring with a touchdown pays off at +140 odds, with a New Orleans field goal at +220 odds. Any other Saints score would pay off at +8000 odds. Atlanta getting on the board first with a touchdown is set at +200 odds, with a Falcons field goal at +300 and any other score by them also set at +8000.
