NFL Betting Week 15 - Bengals (- 10) vs. 49’ers (+ 10)

We get a Saturday game this weekend because college football will soon be into its bowl season. No worries. Every game in NFL betting provides an opportunity since there is absolutely no trends that are obvious - - unless, of course, you believe in the greatness of the New England Patriots.

The Bengals have been okay lately. They beat St. Louis and Tennessee, but then lost to Pittsburgh and Arizona. The 49’ers have been terrible, like usual, dropping games versus Minnesota and Carolina. The loss to the Panthers was very disturbing only because the Panthers aren’t even close to being a decent team.

The against the spread line appears awfully high to me in this one, but before I get to that, here are a couple of trends that really make me wonder about who has the upper-hand in this affair:

The Cincinnati Bengals are 3 and 7 against the spread in their last 10 games on grass.

The San Francisco 49’ers are 1 and 7 against the spread in their last 8 games overall.

The problem with handicapping this game is that we don’t really know which Bengals team is going to show-up. They only scored 19 points against the terrible St. Louis Rams, but did hold the Rams to 10 points.

The 49’ers offense is bad. Their defense is bad. Mike Nolan, their coach, doesn’t seem to be game-planning well this year. The 49’ers are easily one of the worst teams in the NFL. So, I can easily see the Bengals romping in this one, but that 10 points - - man, that 10 points are bothering me!

It’s awfully tough to give up that many points in NFL betting. It’s almost against my religion to give up that many points when the team giving it up is only 5 and 8 on the season. I just can’t believe that the Bengals can blow-out any team on the road. I can’t.

This is the NFL, folks. The only four teams this year who deserve that much respect are Dallas, Green Bay, Indianapolis, and New England. The 49’ers are a professional team and should find a way to keep this within the 10 points.

The BetUS Betting line is San Francisco 49’ers + 10 against the spread at home versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

I have to take the 49’ers and the points in this one.
