NFL Betting Opinion - Week 7 Exposed

Did anyone ever think that the 2007 NFL betting season would bring us a showdown between Vinny Testaverde and Tim Rattay? If you did, then you are lying. But as we at BetUS.com continue our analysis of the NFL, there are five teams you should steer absolutely clear when laying down your hard earned betting dollars. As much excitement as they have generated in the preseason, and in the past, this is a whole new season and some teams are showing their true colors. In short, they are WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!

Cincinnati Bengals (1-4)

Despite the fact the Bengals have a top-7 offense in the NFL, they are a miserable team. Their defense is made up of cardboard cutouts in cement shoes and their running game has gone nowhere except backwards (and to the injured reserve). With Pittsburgh running away with the AFC North, the Bengals are off to a horrific start with no hope in sight.

Next game: New York Jets vs. Cincinnati (-6)

Arizona Cardinals (3-3)

Did you really think they were going to turn things around this season? Well, so did I. Losing Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner in back-to-back games is all the doctor ordered to euthanize this season. Anquan Boldin is still unhealthy.

Even the creativity of Ken Wisenhunt can not hope to save this Cardinals team. They face a ferocious Washington defense next week. Regardless, are you really going to feel safe with Tim Rattay trying to keep your betting dollars safe?

What I hate the most is that the Seattle Seahawks are virtually going to win this division by default. Maddening, absolutely maddening.

Next game: Arizona vs. Washington (-7)

Houston Texans (3-3)

I love the defense. I love Matt Schaub. I hate that Andre Johnson and Jacoby Jones are still a couple weeks away from getting off the shelf and on to the field. Some savvy betting investors may have thought they hit a goldmine after watching Schaub and Johnson undress defenses in the opening two weeks, but injuries are killing their playoff hopes and their betting stock.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are finally coming together, and the Colts continue to stampede through the league en route to defending their Superbowl title. They are still a .500 team, but it’s time to put the Texans playoff hopes to rest.

Next game: Tennessee Titans (-1) vs. Houston Texans

Chicago Bears (2-4)

The Bears are another team decimated by injuries. But Chicago’s injury woes are on the defensive side of the ball. The only hope is to get Devin Hester the ball as much as possible. The offense ranks 20th in the league, while their once stalwart defense has crumpled to 23rd.

With Griese at the helm, Cedric Benson looking pedestrian and the defense getting publicly demoralized by the rookie Adrian Peterson, the betting community should get off this wagon. The Bears are suffering one of the worst Superbowl hangovers of all time.

Next game: Chicago vs. Philadelphia (-6)

San Francisco 49ers (2-3)

Vernon Davis looks like a freak of nature in those Under Armor commercials, but he is a ghost on the field. Has he really done anything to justify the hype? Sure he has bulging biceps, but his stats are as flimsy as they get. Making things worse is that the 49ers, who were supposed to make the proverbial leap, rank 30th in the league in offense.

There were high hopes for the Niners to end the Seahawks reign of terror in the NFC West. But those hopes have been dashed. With or without Alex Smith, the Niners are simply not ready.

Next game: San Francisco vs. NYG (-10)
