NFL Playoff Betting – Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers

The Seattle Seahawks, (11-6 SU, 10-7 ATS, 8-9 O/U) and head coach Mike Holmgren are trying to avoid losing to the Green Bay Packers, (13-3 SU, 12-3-1 ATS, 12-4 O/U) at home for the second time in four seasons and may have an excellent opportunity after the performance they put on against the Washington Redskins in last week’s 35-14 NFC home wild card victory against the Washington Redskins.

Seattle is also seeking its second conference finals appearance in three years but will be facing a tall task against a well-rested Brett Favre and the Packers who fielded the league’s No.2 offense during the regular season, averaging 370.8 yards and 27.2 points per game.

The good news for the Seahawks is that they have one of the best defensive lines in all of football and recorded 45 sacks during the regular season, good for fourth in the league. Defensive end Patrick Kerney ranked second in the league with 14.5 sacks and racked up three more last week despite facing constant double-teams from the Skins.

The Packers may have an advantage defensively though as the Seahawks can’t run the ball very effectively despite having former offensive MVP running back Shaun Alexander on the roster.

Seattle has not had a 100-yard rusher since Week 3 while the Packers have not allowed any running back to gain 100 yards at Lambeau Field all season, holding opponents to a microscopic average of 87.6 rushing yards per game and 3.4 per carry.

Analysis: While The Packers are the correct straight up pick in this contest, I am going with the Seahawks to cover the spread. Personally, I don’t think either team in this matchup is nine points better than the other. Take the Seahawks to cover the spread NFL bettors.
