New York Giants +11.5 vs. New England Patriots –11.5

Let’s focus on the Giants third stringer Steve Smith right now. Just go to the BetUS sportsbook and scroll down past the Super Bowl lines and then past the alternative Super Bowl odds. Below, in the WR Props section, you’ll find these New York Giants receivers prop wagers to bet on. We’ll go by the numbers on the left of the bets, called Rotation Numbers, to make it easier to follow.

Super Bowl Betting: 6:20 p.m. EST in Glendale, Arizona

Number 430/431: The over/under for Steve Smith’s total number of catches in Super Bowl xlii is set at three. This would seem high at first glance. You would be surprised at how many people simply go to the players’ profiles on NFL.com and look at the season totals without even taking into account the postseason, or situations. If all you did was look at Smith’s total receptions for the regular season, you’d see that he caught eight balls for 63 yards, drop a dime on the under and walk away thinking you just found the lucky prop that the oddsmakers messed up.

Looking a little closer, however, will show you that Smith has had three or more catches in three of his past four games. Since Jeremy Shockey went down, Eli has played smarter and has had better protection, thanks to the superior blocking skills of rookie tight end Kevin Boss. In playing smarter, Eli has given himself more options, and Smith has been one lucky rookie. That means you have a 75% or better chance of winning this bet or, if you don’t win, at least getting your money back on a push. Take the over, get the great price of +115, while Joe Sucker pays –155 to lose, and enjoy the game.

Number 552/553: This prop asks about the longest catch that Smith will make and whether it will be for more than 13.5 yards. Another easy one here, bettors. Smith has been used more in these playoffs, as discussed above, but he has also put his extra time to great use. He has caught passes for more than 13.5 yards in each of the Giants three playoff games. Expect him to be used well again and expect to have a little extra spending money come Monday morning
