NFL Betting Action - New York (+ 3) vs. Tampa Bay (- 3)

The Giants, coming off of that stellar performance versus the 16 and 0 New England Patriots, travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Bucs in a wild-card match-up this Sunday.

The Giants have a long road to climb actually as the Bucs are led by one of the more seasoned and tougher quarterbacks in the NFL, Jeff Garcia. They also have a very underrated defense.

First, some trends:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 home games.

The New York Giants are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games overall.

The New York Giants are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games as an UNDERDOG.

This point spread surprises me only because the Giants played so well last Saturday night versus the New England Patriots. Without a doubt the G-Men have played a tougher schedule this year. That should set them up versus the Bucs, right?

Actually, wrong. The Buccaneers are one of the better teams in the NFL. They’ve proven it by, if not being spectacular, then being consistent this year. They put away the teams they needed to put away, like the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers, and beat the Washington Redskins. That one-point loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was also impressive as the Jags are one of my favorites to cause some noise in the AFC Playoffs.

The Bucs’ D is terrific. They have fast linebackers, a nice D-Line, and Ronde Barber is still one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL.

The Giants have played well in spots this season, but I have to believe that Bucs coach Jon Gruden will find a way to upset Eli Manning’s rhythm. Eli has never responded well to pressure. So, I can see him throwing at least two maybe three interceptions in this game. Also, this season teams who have played well versus the New England Patriots have played terribly in their next game.

That will be all that the Bucs need in order to beat this team by the 3 point home spread.

The BetUS NFL betting line is Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 3 against the spread on the road versus the New York Giants.

I like the Bucs to cover in this game.
