Football Betting Lines - NFL Regular Season Wins - AFC
By Dave Golokhov
When it comes to NFL betting and regular season win totals, like Jimmy Eat World’s song Over or Filter's Under, there's only two ways to go. In the first of our eight division previews, we examine the NFL odds for regular season wins in the AFC West:
Denver Broncos
If you are looking for a Super Bowl team who is under the radar, take a look the Denver Broncos.
After Jay Cutler got through some early rigors, he started to thrive as the season closed. At worst, he will still be a better quarterback than Jake Plummer was, and the Broncos were a perennial playoff team with him.
The Broncos now have a solid running back in Travis Henry, a quality corner opposite of Champ Bailey in Dre Bly and a savvy defensive coordinator in Jim Bates.
Most importantly, they are one of the few teams that dominates New England. They have won four of the last five meetings.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 9.5

Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs look like an absolute disaster waiting to happen.
They are starting an inexperienced quarterback, stud Larry Johnson is holding out, their offensive line is a shadow of what it used to be and their receiving corps is a few bricks short of a load.
Even if/when Johnson comes back, there isn’t much to look forward to on the offense.
On defense, the Chiefs are getting old at cornerback.
Herman Edwards has changed this team from an offensive powerhouse with a so-so defense to a team with a weak offense and average defense. That doesn’t amount to much.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 7.5
NFL Free Pick: Under
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders win total is set at five, which might seem fairly low considering that the Raiders may now have a capable quarterback in Daunte Culpepper.
Offensive mind, Lane Kiffin, was brought in to spark the offense and complement a burgeoning defense.
Kiffin has already revived Jerry Porter and is trying to get the best out of bust Mike Williams. With Culpepper, Porter and a healthy LaMont Jordan, the Raiders have the mix-ins of something better than last year. Throw a stronger offensive line, which simply can’t be any worse.
Outside of having a better home field advantage and a disgruntled Larry Johnson, the Chiefs don’t have many significant weapons over the Raiders, yet they are expected to win two-and-a-half more games.
The Chiefs could easily be worse than the Raiders this season.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 5
NFL Free Pick: Over
San Diego Chargers
There are high expectations in San Diego this year but they should be tempered. Had the Chargers returned their same coaching staff, they would have easily been the favorites in the AFC but they lost their head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and with it, a whole lot of continuity.
The old staff new how to push the right buttons and this staff will have to spend a while learning how to motivate the players properly.
When it comes to championships, continuity and chemistry is vital and the Chargers let it go out the window.
New head coach, Norv Turner, has lost the last two teams that he coached. They both were undisciplined, unprepared and eventually quit on him.
Not a good omen for a team will measure success or failure by a Super Bowl.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 10.5
NFL Free Pick: Under
