Football Betting Odds: Indianapolis at Jacksonville
By BetUS Staff
The NFL schedule makers finally got it right with this week’s Monday Night football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The undefeated Colts sit atop the AFC South division at 5-0, but that could change if the 4-1 Jaguars can pull off an upset on Monday night in what should be an interesting game for NFL betting aficionados.
The Colts are coming off their bye week, which came just at the right time. The Colts hammered Tampa Bay 33-14 as a 9-point favorite two weeks ago, despite missing Marvin Harrison and Joseph Addai to injury. Even without his favorite receiver, Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning had a solid game, completing 29-of-37 passes for 253 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Backup running back Kenton Keith filled Addai’s shoes and rushed for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 28 carries. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Anthony Gonzalez all had seven receptions for Indianapolis, with Wayne and Clark each catching a touchdown. Both Harrison and Addai returned to practice this week and are expected to return to the starting lineup this weekend.
The Jaguars played their best game of the season last week, as they routed Houston 37-17 as a 6.5-point favorite on the NFL odds. David Garrard completed 22-of-34 passes for 221 yards with two touchdown passes in the win. Maurice Jones-Drew continued his breakout after a slow start to the season, with 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Fred Taylor played through a groin injury and rushed for 90 yards on only six carries. Reggie Williams and George Wrighster each caught a touchdown pass, but Williams also had two fumbles.
Last season the Colts and the Jaguars clashed twice with each team winning at home. Early in the season in Indianapolis the Colts defeated the Jags 21-14 as a 6.5-point favorite. In the rematch in Jacksonville, the Jaguars hammered the Colts 44-17 as a 1-point underdog. In that win the Jacksonville running game rumbled over the Colts for 305 yards on the ground, including 166 yards and two touchdowns for Jones-Drew.
In the Monday nighter the Colts are currently listed as a slim 3-point favorite.
