NFL Betting - Dallas Cowboys –3 @ New York Giants +3
By Russell Edward
Both of these NFC East contenders are on a hot streak right now. While the Cowboys did lose handily to the Patriots, that game, their only loss, can’t even be taken into consideration when talking about NFC teams. What can be discussed, then, is that Dallas comes into this game with seven wins, a very high-powered offense, and a defense that can stuff the run, while being average against the pass. The Giants, meanwhile, are hoping to extend their win streak to seven games with a home victory. The NFL betting experts, however, have tem labeled as three-point dogs on their home turf.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning is progressing again this season - his poor showing in the rain and mud against the Dolphins notwithstanding – and he threw for over 300 yards and had four touchdowns in the first meeting this season against the Cowboys, in Dallas. While the Giants lost that game 45-35, one could argue that they have gotten much better as a team, while the Cowboys have mostly maintained their level of play. Mind you, that level of play is pretty high, as they are second only to the Patriots in scoring this season.
Manning will inevitably look for wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who is having a stellar campaign even though he rarely practices during the week due to a continuing sore ankle. His eight touchdown receptions in eight games have him well on track to having his best season as a pro. He and Amani Toomer had a huge day in Week 1 in Dallas, combining for 17 catches, 235 yards and three touchdowns. On two weeks of rest, these two will give the Dallas secondary fits if the Giants offensive line can control the pocket and give Manning the time he needs to get the ball deep.
The problem with NFL betting on the Giants is that they are not very good finishers of games overall. A strong and persistent adversary, who the Cowboys most certainly will be, always has a chance to get back into games against this New York squad, as they seem to relax with a lead. Lead changes should be frequent in this game, and it may come down to a special team’s play that wins it, and the Cowboys have a decided advantage in this area. Giving the home team three points to play with certainly makes it an interesting choice to make. Go to the BetUS sportsbook and make your play today.
