The high-powered offense of the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts takes their show on the road Sunday. The colts are well rested following last Thursday's 41-10 spread covering romp of the New Orleans Saints in Week 1. They’ll be facing the Tennessee Titans at LP Field in Nashville and NFL betting fans should get down on the Colts like a monkey on a banana.
In the season opener, Peyton Manning completed 18-of-30 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns, throwing scores to receivers Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison. The offense picked up where they left off last season when they led the AFC in total offense, averaging 379.4 yards.
Despite having four new starters, the defense held the Saints to 106 rushing yards. The only touchdown the Colts allowed came on a 55-yard fumble return.
Tennessee is also coming off a straight up and against the spread 13-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1. The Titans won for the seventh time in eight games, while quarterback Vince Young improved to 9-5 as a starter.
Young was 11-of-18 for 78 yards with an interception and rushed for 22 yards on 11 carries, while running back Chris Brown ran for a career-high 175 yards on 19 carries. The Titans held the ball for 36 minutes, 55 seconds in the win. They averaged an NFL-worst 27:17 in 2006.
The Colts beat the Titans 14-13 on Oct. 8, 2006 at home for their seventh consecutive straight up victory in the series, but in the December contest, Tennessee pulled off a 20-17 win on the road. Indianapolis dropped the cash in both of those games as the favorites.
Manning passed for 517 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions against the Titans in those games. He has thrown for 1,057 yards, 12 touchdowns and no picks in his last four regular season games against them.
Young was 15-of-25 for 163 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, and ran for 78 yards on nine attempts in the Dec. 3 win.
NFL odds display Indianapolis as 8.5-point favorites with a total of 45.5. The Colts covered the number in their last two road games last year - which were postseason games - and they've covered the spread in their last six overall.
