NFL Betting - Chicago Bears (+3) vs. Washington Redskins (-3)

NFL Hall-of-Fame Coach Joe Gibbs out-thought himself in the Redskins’ game last week versus the Buffalo Bills. He called two time-outs in a row to ice the Bill’s kicker and ended up getting a 15 yard unsportsmanlike call against him.

The mistake not only cost the Skins the game, but it showed that maybe the game of professional football has passed Joe Gibbs by. Maybe, Gibbs just hasn’t kept up the changes that have gone on in the NFL football, the man does spend a lot of time running NASCAR team, and that has caused the Skins to lose focus.

It was a strange mistake to see coming from one of the greatest football minds in history, one that I can’t forget, and that makes me leery regarding the Skins chances in this game.

First, some trends:

The Washington Redskins are 3-7-2 against the spread this year.

The Chicago Bears are 5 and 13 against the spread in their least 18 overall games.

The Washington Redskins are 1-4-1 against the spread at home.

This is pretty much what I expected when I looked at the schedule last Sunday night. Neither team is all that good and both teams tend to play down or up to their competition.

In the case of the Washington Redskins, who have lost a terrifying 4 in a row, playing up to their competition means when they face the Dallas Cowboys. The Skins are a mess against everybody else in the NFL.

They started out the season playing well, but, even before the tragedy regarding Sean Taylor, they started playing the way panties stick to Becky’s wet ass. Poorly, my friend. Poorly.

The Skin’s D have given up 33, 28, 19, and 17 points in their last 4 games. Losing to the Buffalo Bills without Marshawn Lynch was ridiculous. Dropping that game to a Jeff Garcia less Tampa Bay Buccaneer team was crazy.

That’s how bad this team has gotten. The truth is that no matter how you cut it, the loss of Sean Taylor on the football field is huge. Now, I’m not saying that losing Sean as a person is meaningless. It absolutely means something, but from a wagering stand-point, the loss of Taylor turns the Redskins’ into a team that NFL bettors cannot even think about wagering on.

The Bears are not a good team, but they’re good enough to beat the Skins on the road.

Forget the points and think about the money-line. The Skins could get beat pretty bad in this one.

The BetUS NFL money-line is Chicago Bears + 140 on the road versus the Washington Redskins.

I like the Bears to win this one outright.
