College Football Wagering - LSU Betting Trends
By D.S. Williamson
The third week of college football occurs this weekend and it is time to take a look at a powerful trend, that, so far, has been nothing but spectacular early in this season.
The Louisiana State Tigers are ranked second in the nation, behind the Southern California Trojans, and have proven to be excellent on both sides of the ball, scoring more than forty points in their first two games and giving up less than twenty in both games.
Because of that the BetUS line this weekend is LSU –41 against the spread versus the Middle Tennessee State Blue Radiers. 41 is a lot of points and even though LSU is at home, on paper it just appears to be too many points for the Tigers to cover - even if they are facing a rather soft team.
Don’t be so sure, though, as one of the most powerful betting trends regarding LSU has them 8 – 0 against the spread in non-conference games over the past two seasons. Make that 10 – 0 after they beat Mississippi State in their first game of the season 45 – 0, the BetUS line was LSU – 20.5 against the spread; they beat Virginia Tech in the second game of the season 48 – 7 - the BetUS line was LSU –9.5 against the spread.
Looking at those numbers, the –41 against the spread for LSU doesn’t look nearly as daunting. Keep these games in mind if you choose to stick with this trend.
9/29/2007 – LSU on the road vs. Tulane
11/10/2007 – LSU at home vs. Louisiana Tech
If LSU covers both of those games, as well as this weekend’s walkover versus the Blue Raiders, expect this trend to carry-over into next season and maybe even into the BCS Championship Game this year.
If the -41 against the spread line is too much for you as a college football bettor, then don’t fret. You do have the opportunity to make a wager on the LSU vs. Florida Gator game on 10/6/2007. The game is in Baton Rouge and another powerful trend involving LSU should be in play.
NCAA Football Betting Trend: the Under is 22–7 in LSU games where LSU faces a good passing team (averaging 250 or more passing yards per game).
This trend might also work when LSU plays against Kentucky on the road on 10/13/2007. Pay attention to pass yards per game for both Florida and Kentucky.
There is a final trend regarding LSU that appears to be “money” in betting parlance. LSU is 38–16 against the spread when it allows between 50 to 100 rushing yards a game.
Because LSU is so good on defense, Glenn Dorsey should be the number one pick in next April’s NFL draft - this trend could apply to every game this year.
Against Mississippi State they gave up 10 rushing yards. Against Virginia Tech the Tigers gave up 71 rushing yards.
By predicting how many rushing yards each opponent will gain against LSU this year, college football bettors have a good chance of really making money on LSU games.
These are rock-solid trends for the second best team in the nation. Take advantage!
