NCAA Football Opinion – Heisman Hopefuls Week 9 - BetUS Sportsbook

Attention NCAA football betting fams the Heisman race is getting tighter and tighter with quarterbacks dominating the field. One mainstay of the top-5 has fallen in to the muck, and his lackluster Heisman campaign has been killing his team. Will the bubble burst and send these guys down the road, or do they have enough left in the tank to get that ticket to New York City with only a few games left? More importantly, which one of these hopefuls are you willing to wage your betting dollars on?

1. Matt Ryan (QB) – Boston College Eagles
With Ryan’s Heisman hopes slipping away, and an undefeated season in jeopardy, Matt Ryan had a gorgeous Heisman moment last Thursday in prime time. Ryan rifled two touchdown passes in the final 2:11 of the game to lead BC to a 14-10 score and an absolutely thrilling victory. At this point, there is no reason to think that Ryan wouldn’t get the invite to New York.

Next game: Florida State vs. Boston College (-7.5)

2. Dennis Dixon (QB) – Oregon Ducks
Dixon can do the betting community a massive favor by kicking Arizona State to the curb this weekend. After running and gunning USC in to the ground, Dixon and the Ducks are set to take the BCS by storm if they can win the Pac-10. That should interest the betting faithful that took a flier on the Ducks earlier this season, and those that placed stock in Dixon’s Heisman chances. Dixon had 233 total yards and one rushing touchdown this weekend.

Next game: Arizona State vs. Oregon (-7)

3. Todd Boeckman (QB) – Ohio State Buckeyes
He is third in quarterback rating with a steady 164.32 and is tied for seventh in passing touchdowns with 21. Boeckman assumes the mantle of “best player on the best team”, but his mantle as a “game manager” is the one that might void his ticket to New York. For now, however, being the starting quarterback on the No.1 team in America is enough to warrant some love from the voters.

Next game: Wisconsin vs. Ohio State

4. Pat White (QB) – West Virginia Mountaineers
Aside from Ryan, the nation’s best quarterbacks are all guys who can move run and gun and White is perhaps the most dangerous of the bunch when it comes to using his feet. This past weekend, White had 144 passing yards and scampered for 156 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. For those of you that aren’t keeping tabs, the Mountaineers quarterback had more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns on fewer attempts than Ray Rice of Rutgers.

White usually gets discredited because of his running-back Steve Slaton, who is as equally as deadly on the ground. But if White can engineer some big wins over Louisville and Connecticut, he may be the ultimate sleeper in the Heisman race. The savvy betting investor will want to keep an eye on White’s stock.

Next game: BYE WEEK

5. Tim Tebow (QB) – Florida Gators
His stock took a massive blow when his Gators lost to Georgia this past weekend, but his betting backers should not hit the panic button yet. Tebow had one of his most pedestrian outings this year, and still threw for 236 yards and a score. The voters absolutely love Tebow, and he has done enough in his first year as a starter to gain at least one “get out of jail free” card. But the loss to Georgia is Florida’s third, and it might postpone Tebow’s Heisman till 2009.

Next game: Vanderbilt vs. Florida (-16.5)
