Bet on College Football – Pirates vs. Broncos in Hawaii Bowl

When the Boise State Broncos meet the East Carolina Panthers in the Hawaii Bowl on December 23rd, it will be a battle of two powerful offenses and could be a shoot out that goes down to the final whistle. The college football betting line has the powerful Broncos as just 11.5-point favorites over the Pirates. The reasoning behind this premise is that the Broncos will most likely take this game lightly, at least at first, as they will probably view their trip to Hawaii as a letdown after winning a BCS bowl in a most exciting fashion last year. Not to mention the fact that a trip to Hawaii came only after they turned down an offer to play in a bigger bowl, leading some to think they will be taking this game with a grain of salt.

East Carolina Pirates +11.5 vs. Boise State Broncos –11.5

Pirates running back Chris Johnson is a very good, very versatile rusher, averaging a great 5.8 yards per carry. When he finds a seam, he has a quick burst and good vision that will serve him well going up against the stingy front seven of Boise State. The Broncos have held opponents to just 3.4 yards per carry so Johnson and the O-line will have to work extra hard if they want to maintain their game.

At quarterback, the Pirates have been playing musical chairs all year. Rob Kass and Patrick Pinkney have rotated starting whenever one shows a hotter hand. Neither has been standout, but both have been reliable when their number’s been called. Whoever lines up against Boise State, they will be looking to get the ball to wide receiver Jamar Bryant, as he has become the go to guy in the air attack.

Bryant is good, with 626 yards and six TDs on the year, and his job in this game should be made all the easier as the Broncos have suffered injuries to their secondary that may not be healed by game time. If the Broncos are less than 100 percent in their secondary, it will certainly aid the Pirates in their quest to win this game. But, more importantly, if you bet on college football, it would be the main thing to keep an eye on as you try to decide who will cover this spread.
