NCAAF Betting Pick: Florida Gators vs. Kentucky

If not for a turnover plagued game versus the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Kentucky Wildcats would be undefeated. Yes, I’m talking about football not basketball.

This includes their terrific win last week against the LSU Fighting Tigers. That win, of course, along with the Wildcats penchant for playing very well at home leads to me wonder why this line is what it is.

All of the trends say the Wildcats beat the BetUS – 6.5 for Florida against the spread in this game. The Wildcats are at home, where they play very well, and have lost only one game this season. They have, perhaps, the most gifted quarterback that the Gators can expect to face this season in Andre Woodson.

More importantly, history is on the Kentucky Wildcats side. The trend in this game is that Kentucky is 7 – 1 against the spread versus a team with a winning record.

This trend says that the Wildcats step their game, as they did last week, when facing a team that is supposed to beat them. There’s no doubt that the sort of resiliency that the Wildcats showed last week will come out again versus a very good Florida Gators team.

Here is another trend: Florida is 4 – 11 in their last 15 conference games.

Like LSU and Tennessee and Auburn in years past, the Gators destroy non-conference teams but have trouble covering versus their conference opponents. This trend is especially true when the Gators are on the road as they are this weekend versus the Wildcats as evidenced by this trend:

Florida is 3 – 9 against the spread in its last 12 road games.

Florida plays well at the swamp, covering most of the time, but, like most college football teams, they tend not to play so well on the road. Kentucky, meanwhile, is hot, at home and ready to prove to the nation that their win last week versus LSU wasn’t a fluke.

The Kentucky Wildcats are more than just a fluke. They are a well-coached, athletic, highly-motivated group of football players.

The BetUS college football line is Kentucky Wildcats + 6.5 at home. Take the Wildcats to beat that spread.
