College Football Betting - Arizona vs. USC Odds

USC, which fell victim to one of the biggest upsets in the history of college football last Saturday, will try to keep its scant BCS hopes alive as it plays host to the Arizona Wildcats in a game scheduled for Saturday (3:30 PM ET) on the grass field of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The college football betting odds at BetUS show the Trojans listed at –22.5.

USC is 4-1 SU (straight-up) and 2-3 ATS (against the spread), and has played four unders thus far in its five games. In its last outing, as a favorite of 39 points, USC suffered a shocking 24-23 loss to Stanford that was its first at home since the 2001 season. Southern Cal is tallying just under 37 points a game and has outscored its opponents by 16 points on the average.

Arizona is 2-4 SU and 1-4 ATS, playing three of its five board games over the total. the Wildcats have scored 28.3 points a game while giving up 28.2. Last week they were beaten 31-16 as a three-point dog at Oregon State, in a game where they only totaled nine net rushing yards.

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD NCAA football betting trends:

* USC has won the last five meetings SU

* USC has allowed just 33 points to Arizona in the last four meetings

* Arizona has covered five of the last eight meetings

* There have been three overs in the four games in which a total was posted

USC's loss to Stanford was mistake-filled. Quarterback John David Booty passed for 364 yards, but also tossed four INT's, one of which was run back for a touchdown. With that game, Booty effectively played himself out of the hierarchy of Heisman candidates. The Trojans are still out-gaining opponents by 194 yards a game, have a +7 turnover ratio, rank 10th in total defense and 19th in total offense. USC is currently rated 7th in the USA Today poll and 10th in the Associated Press poll. Also:

* USC has won 23 of its last 25 home games SU

* USC has played under the total in eight of its last 10 home games

* USC is 23-11 ATS as a home favorite since 2002

Arizona is ranked 111th in the country in rushing offense, but QB Willie Tuitama has thrown for 1822 yards and 15 TD's already, though he threw three picks in the Oregon State game. Arizona is rushing for 3.1 yards an attempt, compared to 5.5 ypc for USC. Also:

* Arizona is just 5-17 SU in its last 22 road games

* Arizona is 10-26 SU in the Pac-10 since 2003

Technical edges in this Pac-10 battle would tend to favor USC, the 22.5-point favorite on the BetUS betting line, looking to bounce back from the devastating upset loss.
