NCAA Basketball Betting – Washington at Arizona State

The Arizona State Sun Devils (14-3 SU, 8-5 ATS), architects of one of the more stunning turnarounds in the country this year, will try to bounce back from their first Pac-10 loss when they take on the Washington Huskies (11-7 SU, 7-10 ATS) in a conference game that begins at 9 PM ET on Thursday night from the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.

In the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds, the Sun Devils are listed as a five-point favorite.

Here are some of the NCAAB betting trends and stats relative to this matchup:

* WASH has covered six of its last nine games

The return to action of Ryan Appleby has given a boost to Washington's offense, making for a nice inside-outside combo with big man Jon Brockman. But Arizona State 39.5% FG's allowed) is perfectly capable of doing a lockdown on Appleby, which could frustrate the senior guard into bad shots. Herb Sendek has gotten great results from his freshmen, three of which are in the starting lineup.

One of them, 6'4" guard James Harden, a 55% shooter who is fifth in the Pac-10 in scoring, is iffy here with a groin injury. But he should be able to go. That's important, since a lot of people are touting him as a future pro standout. What's also important to remember here is that though the youngsters have picked up Sendek's deliberate, patient offense and pressure defense very well, the Sun Devils have not been befuddled by up-tempo teams, having already scored wins over California and Oregon in Pac-10 play.

With Washington challenged from beyond the arc (15 three-pointers in last four) and at the free throw line (less than 60% accurate), we'll lay the points with ASU, the five-point favorite in the BetUS NCAAB betting odds.
