NCAA Basketball Betting – Stanford at Washington State
by Charles Jay
On Saturday, BetUS NCAAB bettors will have a chance to see a Pac-10 game between two teams who will certainly be a factor once March Madness arrives. The Stanford Cardinal (17-3 SU, 10-10 ATS) travels to Pullman to take on the Washington State Cougars (17-3 SU, 10-9 ATS) at the Friel Court in a game slated to tip off at 3 PM ET.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends relative to this matchup:
* STAN has covered four of its last six games
* STAN has played 14 of its last 16 games UNDER the total
* STAN has covered four of its last six road games
* STAN has won five of its last six road games SU
* STAN has played six of its last seven road games UNDER the total
* WSU has covered one of its last six games
* WSU has won 10 of its last 11 home games SU
* STAN has won 21 of the last 24 meetings SU
* WSU has covered six of the last seven meetings as the home team
Washington State is experienced, patient, and fundamentally sound (just 10.5 turnovers per game). But the Cougars are not on the best of runs right now, having suffered Pac-10 losses to California and Arizona in the last eight days. Right now the team that looks like it is playing the "slowdown" game better is Stanford, which is skewing "under" because of defense that is holding fos to less than 39% shooting and 61 ppg on the road (10th best in nation). So the Cardinal can play this tempo with effectiveness.
And Stanford's twin towers - the Lopez brothers - are dominant enough in the paint to thwart a lot of the "backdoor" attempts on the part of Wazzou. This can throw a bit of a monkey wrench into Tony bennett's plans for his offense.
There is a big potential edge for Stanford on the boards, where Washington State pulls down nine less rebounds per contest, and six less on the offensive end!
In the betUS NCAAB betting odds on Saturday, we'll roll with Stanford as the visitor, a role in which it's covered four of the last six.
JAY'S PREDICTION: STANFORD BY 7
