NCAA Basketball Betting Picks - Detroit vs. Wright State
By Charles Jay
BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds: WRIGHT STATE -12, Total 117
The Detroit Titans (7-22 SU) try to salvage something out of a tumultuous season on Tuesday night when they visit the Wright State Raiders (20-9 SU, 14-12-1 ATS) in the first round of the Horizon League tournament, which will start at 7 PM ET at the Nutter Center in Dayton, O.
In the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds, Wright State is listed as a 12-point favorite, with a total of 117 points.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* DET has covered five of its last seven games
* DET has lost 20 of its last 23 games SU
* DET has played eight of its last nine games UNDER the total
* DET has lost its last 11 road games SU
* DET has covered three of its last four road games
* DET has played its last five road games UNDER the total
* WSU has won 11 of its last 14 games SU
* WSU has played seven of its last nine games UNDER the total
* WSU has won its last six home games SU
* WSU is 0-7 ATS in its last seven home games
* WSU has played its last four home games UNDER the total
* WSU has won five of the last six meetings SU
* WSU has won five of the last six meetings SU as the home team
* WSU has had the shooting edge in five of the last six meetings
* DET has had the rebounding edge in five of the last eight meetings
Wright State put almost no distance between themselves and Detroit the last time out, squeaking by with a 59-58 win in the final seconds. We have to acknowledge a couple of things here - Detroit has managed to cover five of its last seven games, and Wright State has lost tot he number in each of its last seven home games.
There is no doubt that the Raiders are one of the premier teams in the Horizon League; indeed, only WSU and Cleveland State have beaten Butler in conference tilts. But they don't score a lot, and don't offer a big opportunity to cover sizable numbers.
Detroit might be an exception to this, at least right now. During the last meetup with Wright State, Jon Goode, the leading scorer for the Titans, went down with a knee injury. since then, Detroit has shot 39% against Bowling Green, 41% against Valpo, and 28% against Butler, a game in which the Titans generated only 31 points. The only thing that prevented it from being the lowest output by a "board" team this year was Saint Louis' 20 points against George Washington early in the season.
Since Detroit is without its best offensive player, and another starting guard - Brandon Cotton - left the team before the season. they were chalking up just 54.5 points a game on the road as it was, and now they have real trouble. Remember also that Wright State is coming off a loss to Valpo, and is now 10-1 ATS after a straight-up loss, we'll look for them to bounce back and end this three-game losing streak. Lay the points with Wright State, the 12-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds.
