College Basketball Betting Trends – Cleveland State vs. Butler
By Eric Williams
The Cleveland St. Vikings, (21-11 SU, 17-11 ATS, 12-16 O/U), will play for the Horizon League Conference title for the first time in school history and be in a position to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship Tournament for just the second time in school history when they take on the 12th-ranked Butler Bulldogs in the 2008 Horizon League Championship game tonight.
The Butler Bulldogs, (28-3 SU, 15-13-2 ATS, 14-16 O/U), enter tonight’s title game riding a three-game winning streak and has won 12 of their last 13 games. The Bulldogs are seeking their first league tournament title since 2001.
The Vikings enter the game having won four straight and seven of their last eight with the only loss during the stretch coming at Butler (51-46) on Feb. 16.
Cleveland State beat the Bulldogs in the first meeting between the two teams this season, a 56-52 decision in Cleveland on Jan. 17 before falling to the Bulldogs on the road 56-52 on Feb. 16.
The Vikings are seven and three in their last ten games and beat the Valparaiso Crusaders 78-73 on Saturday.
The Bulldogs won 9-1 in their last ten games and beat the Illinois-Chicago Flames 66-50 on Saturday.
Cleveland State is averaging 66.5 points per game this season on 43.8 percent shooting while allowing 63.9 points per game defensively on 42.1 percent shooting.
Butler is averaging 68.3 points per game on 45.0 percent shooting while limiting their opponents to a miniscule 57.8 points per game on 43.2 percent shooting.
Here is a look at tonight’s Key Trends, followed by my NCAA Basketball Betting.
The Vikings are 6-0 ATS in their last six games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
The Vikings are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games overall.
The Bulldogs are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
The Bulldogs are 6-13-2 ATS in their last 21 vs. Horizon League.
The Under is 4-0 in Vikings last four road games.
The Under is 5-1 in Bulldogs last six home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
The Under is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Butler.
The Under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings.
Analysis: While Butler is the nationally ranked team in this contest, I think this spread may be a bit too high against a team they lost to earlier this season. I say the Bulldogs win this game but the Cleveland State Vikings get the cover. I also really like the under in this matchup as these teams have failed to go over 108 points in two matchups this season.
