NCAA Basketball Betting - Tennessee at Georgia
By Charles Jay
BetUS NCAA college basketball bettors will get a chance to see the team that is ranked #1 in the country in the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) on Saturday when the Tennessee Volunteers (22-2 SU, 11-8-1 ATS) visits Athens to play the Georgia Bulldogs (12-10 SU, 9-9 ATS) in SEC action slated to begin at 3 PM ET at the Stegman Coliseum.
Here are some of the NCAA college basketball betting trends that relate to this matchup:
* TENN has won its last five games SU
* TENN has covered five of its last six games
* TENN has played four of its last six games OVER the total
* TENN has won seven of its last eight road games SU
* TENN has covered five of its last seven road games
* TENN has played five of its last six road games UNDER the total
* GA has covered two of its last six games
* GA has lost five of its last six games SU
* GA has covered four of its last six home games
* GA has won 19 of its last 25 home games SU
* TENN has covered the last five meetings
* TENN has won the last seven meetings SU
* Seven of the last eight meetings have gone OVER the total
* TENN has had the shooting edge in nine of the last ten meetings
* TENN has made more three-pointers in each of the last four meetings
The only positive Georgia has out of its last six games was a win over so-so South Carolina. In that game the Bulldogs shot almost 52%, but that has been the exception, not the rule. In the previous four games, that figure was 41%, 44%, 34% and 37%. That hardly equips them to do battle on even terms against the Vols, who followed their two-point narrow escape over LSU with 48% shooting and eight threes in a 22-point win over tournament hopeful Arkansas.
Opportunistic Tennessee (10.5 steals a game) should be able to take advantage of a sloppy Georgia squad that is turning it over 15.5 times a contest. And the Vols are arc-happy (9.5 threes a game), so they will be in a position to extend this lead.
We respect that Georgia can be a tough nut to crack on its home floor, but you also can't ignore Tennessee's recent mastery in this series (winning seven straight meetings).
We are going to lay the points with Tennessee, a road favorite on Saturday in the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds.
JAY'S PREDICTION: TENNESSEE BY 17
