NCAA Basketball Betting – Oklahoma State at Oklahoma
By Charles Jay
The Cowboys of Oklahoma State (10-9 SU, 4-7 ATS), coming off a tough loss just a couple of days ago, venture to Norman to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners (14-5 SU, 9-7 ATS) in Big 12 conference play tipping off at 9 PM ET on Monday night from the Lloyd Noble Center.
In the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds, Oklahoma is listed at -8.5, with the total posted at 135 points.
Here are some of the NCAAB betting trends relative to this matchup:
* OSU has lost its last four games SU
* OSU has covered two of its last six posted games
* OSU has lost all four road games SU this season
* OSU has played three of its last five games UNDER the total
* OKLA has won seven of its last nine games SU
* OKLA has covered one of its last five games
* OKLA has played eight of its last ten posted games OVER the total
* Three of the last five meetings have gone OVER the total
There were some anxious moments for the Sooners when Blake Griffin went down with a knee injury, but the star freshman, who was expected to be out for up to the six games, came back to the lineup after missing just one contest. And he wasn't going half-speed either. Griffin had 17 points and 15 rebounds against 25th-ranked Baylor this past Saturday. He combines with seven-footer Longar Longar to present some serious matchup problems for Oklahoma State, which does not have a lot of bulk up front.
On top of that, OSU can't seem to buy a win on the road, even with T. Boone Pickens' money behind it. They are 0-4 this season and have won one of their last 15 as a visitor. Meanwhile, Oklahoma has turned back Gonzaga, Arkansas and Texas Tech on its home floor, so you cannot accuse the Sooners of not having quality wins. They have beaten four teams ranked in the RPI's top 50.
On Saturday, OSU lost its fourth straight game, a 59-56 decision to Texas A&M, in which the Cowboys failed to hit a shot from the floor in the last nine minutes and 34 seconds. And that game was at home.
Oklahoma State averages almost 10 steals a game, but its minus-1.4 assist-turnover ratio is certainly a liability. They just can't be counted on when they travel. We'll lay the points with the home team. That's the Oklahoma Sooners, the 8.5-point favorites in the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds.
