NCAAB Betting - Georgetown (- 1.5) vs. Pittsburgh (+ 1.5)

The Hoyas had to fight hard to come back versus the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday. That put them at 2 and 3 against the spread in their last 5 games. That’s not terrible, but it’s not causing me to run to my BetUS account.
The Pitt Panthers have gone 3 and 2 against the spread in their last 5. They’re not tearing things up either.
Maybe, some trends will up figure this one out:
The Georgetown Hoyas are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
The Pitt Panthers are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 home games.
The Pitt Panthers are 6 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall.
The Pitt Panthers are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 versus a team from the Big East.
This is a key match-up in the Big East. Because of that I have to give more credence to the trends that favor Pitt to cover to beat the spread in this game than to the Hoyas to cover.
Both teams are well-coached and play that beat-you-up and then beat-you-down type of college basketball. The Hoyas are all about defense and their inside game but so are the Pitt Panthers.
This is a classic game in the sense that we have two evenly matched teams in a key conference game who play pretty much the same style. Who’s going to give? My feeling is that the Hoyas will because Pitt is at home and they did a good job on Saturday versus the Seton Hall Pirates while the Hoyas had to scrap their way to win versus Connecticut.
Pitt also has a win at home versus the Duke Blue Devils. That has to count for something in my mind.

Because the Hoyas had to fight so hard for their win versus Connecticut and now have to travel to Pitt to take on one of their more bitter rivals, I like Pitt to beat the spread tonight.
