NCAAB Betting – Hibbert Leads No. 5 Georgetown Into Hostile Alabama
By Eric Williams
While the Georgetown Hoyas came into the 2007-08 season as one of the most talked about teams in the country, Alabama quietly got its season under way without much fanfare.
While the Hoyas have been every bit as impressive as their spotless 5-0 record would indicate, Alabama has struggled almost from the outset.
Georgetown, (2-3 ATS, 1-4 O/U) has won every contest this season with preseason All-American senior center Roy Hibbert leading the way, despite an off game in the Hoyas’ last contest, a 61-49 win over Fairfield at home on Saturday.
Though Hibbert scored just seven points in that contest, the Hoyas are showing they are more than just one talented center and a few inexperienced underclassmen. Three starters return from last season's team that reached the national semifinals.
Sophomore DaJuan Summers and senior guard Jonathan Wallace compliment Hibbert in the starting lineup and the Hoyas can turn to athletic sophomore reserves in Jeremiah Rivers and Vernon Macklin.
The Alabama Tide, (0-3 ATS, 2-1 O/U), have their own big-time player in 6-9 junior forward, Richard Hendrix who averages 21.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.
The Tide enter this contest coming off a 63-61 overtime home win over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday in which Hendrix scored 17 points and blocked four shots.
Alabama returns two starters from last season's team that went 20-12 but fell to UMass in the first round of the NIT.
Alabama leads the all-time series with Georgetown 2-1, but the teams haven’t met since the 1982-83 season.
Here is a look at tonight’s Key Trends, followed by my Free NCAAB betting Pick.

Analysis: While I like the Hoyas to ‘handle their business’ by beating the Tide in this matchup, I think the athletic Tide can keep this game from getting out of hand. Besides, the Hoyas generally play a style of ball that doesn’t allow them to rout opponents – or be routed themselves for that matter. I like the Hoyas to win, but the cover goes to Alabama.
