NCAA Basketball Betting - Florida at Vanderbilt
By Charles Jay
The Florida Gators (19-6 SU, 9-7 ATS), mired in a mini-slump lately, have a tough opponent as they try to get back in the swing of things, as the Vanderbilt Commodores (21-4 SU, 12-12 ATS) are thirsting for revenge. This SEC showdown, which offers a special treat for BetUS NCAA college basketball bettors, takes place on Saturday afternoon at 3 PM ET from the Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends that are relative to this matchup:
* FLA has covered one of its last five games
* FLA has covered three of its last 10 road games
* FLA has lost seven of its last ten road games SU
* VANDY has played five of its last six games UNDER the total
* VANDY has won its last 17 home games SU
* FLA has covered six of the last nine meetings
* FLA has won eight of the last nine meetings SU
* Four of the last six meetings have gone UNDER the total
* VANDY has covered seven of the last ten meetings as the home team
* FLA has won five of the last seven meetings as the visitor
* FLA has had the shooting edge in seven of the last eight meetings
* FLA has had the rebounding edge in each of the last ten meetings
On Tuesday, Vanderbilt got its gander up and literally used Kentucky, slamming the Wildcats by a 93-52 score behind 55% shooting. That was revenge for Vandy, which was dealt its first loss of the season in an overtime thriller at Lexington. If that's the way the Commodores treat an opponent when they have payback on their minds, we feel a little sorry for Florida, which got off to a 35-6 lead in Gainesville on January 27 en route to an 86-64 laugher.
That holds even more water now that Florida has suffered from some poor performances lately - blown out by Arkansas (80-61) and Tennessee (104-82) and looking flat against LSU, which had lost 10 of its previous 11 games. Yes, the transitional process has had its ups and downs for Billy Donovan.
Look for more production out of Vanderbilt center AJ Oglivy, who had only nine points in the previous meeting before fouling out. Ogilvy has averaged 16 points and nine rebounds over the last four games. We're a little more confident right now with the 'Dores, who followed four losses in five games with a four-game winning streak. We'll lay the points with Vandy in the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds.
JAY'S PREDICTION: VANDERBILT BY 11
