College Basketball Betting - COLORADO STATE vs. BYU

BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds: BYU -18, Total 134

The Colorado State Rams (7-24 SU, 13-14 ATS) have tremendous obstacles in front of them as they try to advance in the Mountain West Conference tournament. On Thursday afternoon they will take on the BYU Cougars (25-6 SU, 14-12-1 ATS) in a tournament game that is scheduled to tip off at 3 PM ET at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

In the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds, BYU is listed as a 18-point favorite, with a total of 134 points.

Here are some of the NCAAB betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* CSU has covered one of its last five games

* CSU has lost 17 of its last 18 games SU

* BYU is 8-3-1 ATS in its last 12 games

* BYU has won 13 of its last 14 games SU

* BYU has played five of its last seven games UNDER the total

* BYU has won six of the last seven meetings SU

* CSU has covered three of the last four meetings

* Four of the last six meetings have gone OVER the total

* CSU has had the shooting edge in four of the last six meetings

* CSU has had the rebounding edge in five of the last eight meetings

* BYU has made more three-pointers in eight of the last ten meetings

Well, it's kind of interesting. Colorado State's women's team, which was winless in conference play, pulled a major upset on Wednesday when it beat Utah, which was the undefeated conference regular season champion. The men's team, which didn't win a regular season game either, then proceeded to beat Wyoming in the "play-in" game, shooting 47% on its way to a 68-63 win. So, can they do it again?

Well, no, because for a team that had lost 17 in a row, the last four by double digits, that was unusual. And for this depth-starved team to pull off two upsets in two days' time against well-rested (four days off) BYU would be even more unusual. Expect the Cougars to shoot better than the 36% registered by Wyoming yesterday. Effective front-court star Trent Plaisted hit an ungodly 20-for-24 in two meetings against the Rams this season.

Colorado State's deficiencies on the glass (out-rebounded again yesterday, by 32-27) catch up to it as well. We will lay the points with BYU, the 18-point favorite in the BetUS NCAAB betting odds.
