Betting on Wimbledon - More Men’s 3rd Round Tennis Free Picks
by Nila Amerova
London, England – As Wimbledon enters the third round, the online sports betting community has a whole slew of tennis betting lines to bet on that offer some great angles for profit. With Djokovic and Nalbandian – the top two seeds in this quarter out of the championships – the quarterfinal berths in this corner are up for grabs. So as this quarter moves ahead without its top two stars, who will emerge? Here is a look at this quarter and the tennis odds currently available at BetUS Sportsbook.
Tennis Betting Line: Marat Safin -275 Andreas Seppi +190
Tennis Prediction: I have always been a huge fan of Marat Safin’s and nothing at the Wimbledon championships so far was more exciting than his master class performance against Novak Djokovic in the second round. Safin’s win was no fluke, it was vintage Safin – so he should not be underestimated. Safin has long been struggling to find the form that saw him win the Australian Open in 2005 and the US Open way back in 2000. In fact, before beating Djokovic in the second round, he had not had a two-match winning streak the ATP Masters Series in Hamburg in May. But here he is on the heels of a two-match winning streak and on the verge of going one better. Favoured for the win, in spite of a season that has seen him post a 10-13 mark before Wimbledon, bookies seem to have renewed faith in the mighty Safin. I for one would agree and bet on Safin to go one better.
Tennis Free Picks: Safin in four sets
Tennis Betting Line: Marcos Baghdatis -700 Simon Stadler +400
Tennis Prediction: No. 172 Simon Stadler is enjoying a great run, which began with the big upset of Ivo Karlovic in the first round and a second round victory over Thomaz Bellucci. Now on the verge of bidding for a place in the fourth round, he faces Marcos Baghdatis next. While Baghdatis has not had a great year so to speak he enters this matchup favoured for the win. On paper, he is the better play. His server-and-volley style of play suits grass well and as the better known and more experienced player his experience should serve him well for the win.
Tennis Free Picks: Baghdatis in four sets
Tennis Betting Line: Feliciano Lopez -330 Bobby Reynolds +220
Tennis Prediction: Of all the Americans entered in the Wimbledon draw on the men’s front, who would have thought Bobby Reynolds would be the last man standing. With both big names, Roddick and Blake American hope lies with this relatively run-of-the-mill player. Reynolds ranks just beyond the top 100. Prior to Wimbledon, he contested two grass court tournaments; his best result was a second round appearance in Nottingham. Can he go one better at Wimbledon?
Feliciano Lopez has been a bit of an enigma this season. One tournament sees him reach the final, then subsequent outings are so abysmal they are not worth mentioning. Arriving in London with a 10-15 mark for the year, Lopez is surprisingly through to the third round. Can he break the duck?
Lopez is a talented player and unlike most of Spaniards he has game on faster surfaces. The slick grass courts of Wimbledon suit him well and should he find the confidence that seems to have deserted him all season long he should beat Reynolds for a place in the fourth round.

Tennis Betting Line: Mischa Zverev +250 Stanislas Wawrinka -400
Tennis Prediction: Stanislas Wawrinka has had an exceptional few months that saw his ranking rise to No.9 in the World. The “other” Swiss has long held promise but it was not until recently that he came into his own. I expect he will make a good run in Wimbledon this year. Standing in his way of a berth in the R16 is Mischa Zverev a player who ranks No. 92 in the world and entered the draw with a 5-12 mark for the year. Everything points to a Wawrinka victory.
Tennis Free Picks: Wawrinka in straight sets
