Betting on Tennis - ATP Studena Croatia Open R16 Free Picks
by Nila Amerova
Umag, Croatia – The online tennis betting community has many tennis wagering options to choose from this week in the BetUS sports betting market. Too much choice can in some instances be a bad thing, but not in sports betting where an abundance of choice just gives online wagering fanatics that much more opportunity to beat the bookie. So to get you on your merry way picking your tennis wagers, here is a look at some of the upcoming second round tennis gambling action at the Studena Croatia Open.
Tennis Betting Line: Fernando Verdasco vs. Mathieu Montcourt
Match Time: 05:00 AM Eastern Time Wednesday, July 16,2008
Tennis Prediction: Fernando Verdasco is flying high these last few months and as such his stock in the tennis betting markets has gone up. A talented player – considered having one of the best forehand shots in the game – Verdasco has long underachieved. Inconsistency and a failure to close sets and matches earned him the reputation of a train wreck in pressure situations. However, a R16 appearance at the ATP Masters Series in Rome appears to be the catalyst for an excellent run in subsequent events that include a R16 appearance at Roland Garros and Wimbledon and a runner-up finish in Nottingham. Mathieu Montcourt of France did not win a match in an ATP level event until today. His first round victory sees him improve to 1-3 for the season.
Tennis Betting Verdict: Verdasco has been in fine form. He is the top seed and de facto favourite for the title here. Montcourt has just won his first match at an ATP level tournament, betting on him to string together a two-match winning streak and beat a top player at that is a bit of a long shot.
Tennis Free Picks: Verdasco in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Mischa Zverev vs. Marcos Daniel
Match Time: 05:00 AM Eastern Time Wednesday, July 16,2008
Tennis Prediction: This is the first ever meeting between No.89 Mischa Zverev of Germany and No.79 Marcos Daniel of Brazil. The 21-year-old Zverev enters the second round with a 8-14 mark, after beating Luka Belic in the opening round. Daniel is a veteran player at 30-years of age. He enters with an 8-11 mark after topping Carlos Berlocq in the opening round. If there were a handicap in this match, it would be surface. Zverev prefers indoor hard courts. Daniel is the clay court specialist. The balance tips in favour of Daniel for the win.
Tennis Betting Verdict: Although a decade separates these two and most bettors would err on the side of youth, I recommend the mature player of the two. For two reasons: experience and surface edge.
Tennis Free Picks: Daniel in straight sets
