Tennis Analysis: Over the last few months, Spaniard Fernando Verdasco has improved significantly. His reward for some of his excellent tournament performances was to crack the top 20. Verdasco has long been held a talented player – particularly on the red stuff. But inconsistent play and seesawing confidence has seen him fall short of expectations. Recently though, it would seem all is behind him as finished runner-up in Nottingham (lost to Ivo Karlovic). He also reached the R16 of both the French Open and Wimbledon Championships.

Tennis Betting Verdict: Verdasco should be a huge favourite coming into this match. He faces wild card entrant in Bjorn Rehnquist – a player who is in this tournament for one reason and one reason only – he is Swedish. On paper, this should be a straightforward victory for the now No.13 ranked player in the world Verdasco. Historically this tournament has been dominated by Spaniards – well at least over the last five years. Verdasco as the second seed has an excellent opportunity to continue Spain’s domination by keeping his campaign alive.
