Tennis Betting - Australian Open Women’s Third Round Picks
by Nila Amerova
Melbourne, Australia – The women’s bottom-half of the draw moves into third round action today, with No.3 Ana Ivanovic, No.6 Anna Chakvetadze and No.8 Venus Williams taking centre stage. Bet on the odds maker’s favourites, or if you like, speculate on underdogs like Agnieszka Radwanska, Maria Kirilenko or Sania Mirza on day six of the Australian Open. To get you started betting on tennis, here are some tennis free picks to consider.
Women’s Singles Australian Open Tennis Free Picks
Agnieszka Radwanska +4½ -115 +375 Over 19½ -135
Svetlana Kuznetsova -4½ -125 -650 Under 19½ -105
Tennis Prediction: When Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Maria Sharapova at the 2007 US Open, she caused quite a stir in the world of tennis. There is no question, the up-and-coming teenager can play and has the talent to hang in against the Top 10 players. Against Svetlana Kuznetsova, the Polish teenager holds value at +375. Although Kuznetsova holds a 3-0 record, which is comprised of three meetings in 2007, their last match was a close contest, going the way of the Russian World No.2 Kuznetsova 6-4 6-7(5) 6-3. If their last meeting were an indication, this match could potentially be another close contest or even, an upset.
While the likelihood exists, Kuznetsova is one of the most consistent players on the tour, and is no stranger to the big stage. If pushed to a third set, Kuznetsova’s experience should save her from a nigh upset. Kuznetsova is the safe bet. However, for those bettors who like to take a risk now and then, this matchup is a good one to speculate in favour of the underdog.
Tennis Free Pick: Radwanska in three sets
Anna Chakvetadze -4½ -110 -375 Over 20½ -130
Maria Kirilenko +4½ -130 +235 Under 20½ -110
Tennis Prediction: Photographers favourite Maria Kirilenko is not the bookies favorite in this match up. The Russian beauty Kirilenko, who could very well pursue a modelling career, is a talented tennis player as well, but in this matchup is disadvantaged against her fellow compatriot No.6 Ana Chakvetadze. Tipped at +235, Kirilenko is a risky bet. Chakvetadze, last years’ US Open semifinalist is the safe bet
Tennis Free Pick: Chakvetadze in straight sets
Virginia Ruano Pascual +6½ -125 +650 Over 18½ -110
Daniela Hantuchova -6½ -115 -1400 Under 18½ -130
Tennis Prediction: Daniela Hantuchova, odds makers heavy favourite at -1400 is the better play; however, not a sure play. In 2007, Hantuchova’s game enjoyed a resurgence, which saw her climb back up the ranks, but a tendency to be inconsistent on occasion has caused her to lose matches she should have otherwise won. Veteran player No.82 Virgina Ruano Pascual is a player she should have no trouble defeating. Here is hoping she lives up to the odds.
Tennis Free Pick: Hantuchova in straight sets
Nadia Petrova -5 -110 -500 Over 19½ -120
Ekaterina Makarova +5 -130 +300 Under 19½ -120
Tennis Prediction: In this all-Russian affair, No.14 Nadia Petrova meets fellow compatriot, 18-year-old Ekaterina Makarova. While most Russian matchups take on a unique dimension, the typically temperamental Petrova should settle this match quickly and easily.
Tennis Free Pick: Petrova in straight sets
Ana Ivanovic -4½ -135 -650 Over 20 -125
Katarina Srebotnik +4½ -105 +375 Under 20 -115
Tennis Prediction: Ivanovic owns a comfortable 3-0 record over Katerina Srebotnik, a record that includes their most recent match in the quarterfinals of Sydney. However, while Ivanovic won the match, Srebotnik took her to three sets: 6-3 3-6 6-2. This could shape up to be a tough match for Ivanovic, as Srebotnik will be anxious to avenge her loss, but Ivanovic should persevere.
Tennis Free Pick: Ivanovic in three sets.
