UFC 78 Betting - Validation
By Robby Maddux
Your next UFC betting experience comes this Saturday in UFC 78 from the Prudential Center in New Jersey. It's a dynamic card and the excitement will be immeasurable, so if you've never gotten down on the action in the Octagon, do so this weekend.
The main event features Michael "The Count" Bisping and Rashad "Sugar" Evans in what will be an all-out heavyweight war. With these fighters holding a combined record of 30-0-1, it’s difficult to see why this wouldn’t be one of the best matchups of 2007.
Evans holds the edge on the ground, and though Bisping may be the superior striker, Evans has eaten bombs from heavyweights in the past and lived to tell about it.
It looks like it might be a long night for Bisping, but after both fighters’ less than stellar performances in their last fights, they'll attempt to keep their perfect record unblemished.
Bisping is coming off a hard fought victory as the favorite against Matt Hamill in Sept. He was able to score a split decision win but wasn't at his finest. Evans latest fight came against Tito Ortiz in July as the slight favorite with the contest ending in a draw.
Evans owns a mark of 15-0-1 and will attempt to make oddsmakers look like geniuses as the favorite of -280. Bisping comes into the cage with a 15-0 record and UFC odds list him the underdog at +210.
Also on the card,
Thiago Silva (11-0) will take on
Houston "The Assassin" Alexander (8-1) in what will be another heavyweight war. This fight is practically guaranteed to end with someone staring up at the lights after being victimized by a knockout.
Silva scored an impressive technical knock out against Tomasz Drwal in his last fight. Meanwhile, Alexander is coming off a technical knock out win of his own against Alessio Sakara.
As well, Joe "El Dirte" Doerksen will face Ed "Short Fuse" Herman and Ryo "Piranha" Chonan will lock up with Karo "The Heat" Parisyan on a night the betting action will be spectacular.
