Super Bowl XLII Props – Quarterback Rushing Props
By Russell Edward
When online betting companies first started making up Super Bowl props, no one foresaw the rate at which these fun wagers would increase over time. At first, there were obvious prop wagers, like for which quarterback would throw for the most yards, or which running back would run for the most yards. Now, with the BetUS sportsbook giving football betting fans literally hundreds of things to bet on for Super Bowl XLII, we’re going to look at a new set of quarterback props: quarterback rushing props.
New York Giants +11.5 vs. New England Patriots –11.5
Just go to the BetUS sportsbook and scroll down past the Super Bowl lines and then past the alternative Super Bowl odds. Below, strangely enough in the RB Props section, you’ll find these quarterback rushing prop wagers to bet on. We’ll go by the numbers on the left of the bets, called Rotation Numbers, to make it easier to follow.
Super Bowl Betting: 6:20 p.m. EST in Glendale, Arizona
Number 230/231 & 232/233: These two props are for the first rushing attempts of both tom Brady and Eli Manning. Fleet-footed neither one, the oddsmakers have set the over / under at the same yardage for both: 1.5 yards. Now, 1.5 yards is not very much, but, then again, we could very possibly go the entire game without seeing either one of these franchise players risk life and limb by scrambling downfield. In that case, if they do not rush at all, the under is the winner. If they do, though, make a break for it at some point, you will want your wager to be on the over for these props, as Manning averages more than two yards per rush for both this season and his career, and Brady averages 1.9 for his career, with 2.4 for the 2007 NFL season.
Number 284/285: This prop is for Tom Brady’s total rushing yards for Super Bowl XLII, and the over / under, strangely enough, is the same as it is for the previously discussed rushing prop, 1.5 yards. This one is pretty easy, going strictly by stats. Take the over, as he will likely only have to rush once for you to win, and Brady averages 2.5 rushing attempts per game in his career.
Number 270/271: Here we have the prop for Eli Manning’s total rushing yards in Super Bowl XLII. The bookies have set the line at over / under 2.5 yards. Seems kind of strange that Eli’s is lower than Tom’s, even though the New England QB rushed more often than the Younger Manning. This one looks like a mistake, and you should jump all over the under here. Manning only tries to run, on average, 1.6 times per game and only gains 2.3 yards per attempt when he does. I don’t think there’ll be many quarterback sneaks called by the Giants coaches in this one.
