New York Giants vs. New England Patriots 6:20 ET. Weather: Mostly cloudy with 20% chance of showers and highs in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s.

The Giants extended the NFC’s recent dominance in the coin toss when Head Referee Mike Carey’s toss landed on HEADS (Congrats to all degens that won this prop!!!) Now the Giants will look to become the first team to win the game and the toss for the first time in 5 years….

1st Quarter:

NY 1st Drive @ own 28: The Giants first set on offense saw nerves play a role as RB Brandon Jacobs picked up a couple of yards on 1st down, but then QB Eli Manning’s next two passes fell incomplete and the Giants were forced to punt.

NE 1st Drive @ own 41: The Patriots started off quickly when QB Tom Brady found WR Donte Stallworth on a 7-yard slant, but then RB Lawrence Maroney was stonewalled at the line of scrimmage for no gain. Brady’s 3rd down pass intended for TE Benjamin Watson was deflected by NY DE Michael Strahan and picked off by SS Gibril Wilson and returned to the Giants 43-yard line.

NY 2nd Drive @ own 43: RB Jacobs ripped off an 8-yard run off tackle, and then Manning found WR Plaxico Burress for a 7-yard gain and a 1st down. Burress followed his first catch up with a 17-yard reception that saw him outleap NE CB Ellis Hobbs for another 1st down. Jacobs was limited to 3 total yards on a pair of carries, and then the Giants got cute. They came out in 4 wide set and tried to pull off a draw up the middle on 3rd down, but the Pats nose Tackle Vince Wilfork sniffed it out and dropped him for only a gain of a couple. HC Tom Coughlin brought in “Mini LT” to get the Giants on the board. He did exactly that as his 31-yard attempt sailed through the uprights to give the Giants a 3-0 lead. (Congrats prop bettors if you chose the Giants to score first, and for a FG to be the first points) NY 3 NE 0

NE 2nd Drive @ own 18: The Pats second drive saw them pick up a 1st down, but that was it as Brady was harassed on back-to-back plays that altered his timing and his 3rd down attempt fell incomplete.

NY 3rd Drive @ own 32: Jacobs ripped off an 8-yard gain on 1st down, but then Manning’s next two passes fell incomplete and the 1st quarter ended with the Giants holding a slim 3-0 lead.

END OF 1ST QUARTER

2nd QUARTER

NE 3rd Drive @ own 27: The Pats offense continued to look lifeless on its first two plays from scrimmage, but their third down play showed just how lethal this offense really is. Where the Giants failed on sneaking in their draw, the Pats nailed it and 3rd down RB Kevin Faulk outfoxed a NY LB up the middle en route to a 68-yard TD scamper for the Pats first lead of the game. (Congrats prop bettors on cashing in with Kevin Faulk as the first to score a TD. It certainly was a nice payout at 13/1 odds… NY 3 NE 7

NY 4th Drive @ own 20: Looking to get back some of the momentum they lost with Faulk’s huge dash, the Giants came out firing in their fourth drive of the game. RB Jacobs ripped off another solid gain off tackle for 7-yards, and then Manning found Burress wide open for a 24-yard pass and catch setting the Giants up 1st and 10 at midfield. After RB’s Jacobs and Bradshaw set them up with 3rd and short, Manning found WR Amani Toomer for the first time in the game for 13-yardsa and another NY 1st down. TE Kevin Boss made his presence be known on the next play from scrimmage when he turned a little out route into a 17-yard gain and another Giants 1st down. The Giants drive stalled however at the Pats 20-yard line, and K Lawrence Tynes came in and nailed his second FG of the game. This time of the 37-yard variety…. NY 6 NE 7

NE 4th Drive @ own 25: The Giants “D” stepped up to the plate and forced the Patriots offense to go 3 & out for the first time in the game.

NY 5th Drive @ own 32: RB Jacobs got stood up and slammed to the ground after a 2-yard gain, and elected to go to the sidelines for the Giants last play before the 2 minute warning. QB Manning looked to his TE again, and Mr. Boss held his end of the bargain by hauling in a 15-yard pass over the middle and rumbling all the way down to the NE 39 yard line.

2 MINUTE WARNING

NY 5th Drive @ NE 39: Eli’s first pass after the TV timeout fell incomplete, but then he found RB Ahmad Bradshaw out of the backfield for a 12-yard gain. The Giants turned to its no huddle attack and Manning found WR Toomer once again for a 9-yard completion. Manning then tried to sneak one into WR Burress in the back of the endzone, but he overshot him by a good 3 feet and then his 3rd down pass fell incomplete. Another Tynes FG gave the Giants a 2-point lead, but HC Coughlin was noticeably displeased with his team’s performance in the red zone thus far. You can’t keep kicking FG’s against the Pats and expect to win. NY 9 NE 7

NE 5th Drive @ own 27: With less than a minute on the clock and the Pats about to trail the Giants at the half for the second time this season, Tom Brady and the Pats passing game kicked it into high gear. Brady’s first strike from scrimmage was a 28-yard dart to WR Wes Welker for his first reception of the game. Brady had everyone rush up to the line so he could execute their no huddle attack. On 1st and 10 form the Giants 45-yard line, Brady found WR Randy Moss for a pair of catches that moved the chains, and then he spiked the ball looking to preserve their last timeout with 11 seconds left on the clock. Brady’s next pass fell incomplete, but he then hooked up with WR moss once again for 10 and the Pats called their final timeout of the first half. K Stephen Gostkowski split the uprights right down the middle on his 39-yard attempt, and the Pats went into the locker room with a slim 1-point lead.

3rd QUARTER

NE 6th Drive @ own 23: The Pats wasted no time getting back to business to start the second half. QB Brady found WR Moss for a 22-yard gain and then found WR Stallworth for another 20 yards and another Pats 1st down. Before you could blink, the Pats were on the Giants side of the field and not even a minute had expired. Brady picked up another chunk of yardage on his next pass when he found TE Watson wide open in the middle of the field for a 12-yard gain. The drive stalled on the Giants 9-yard line when the pass intended for Moss sailed over his head and out of bounds. It was a small victory for the Giants defense that allowed the Pats to march right down the field. Gostkowski tacked on three more points when his 26-yarder stayed inside the left upright. NY 9 NE 13

NY 6th Drive @ own 20: The Giants 6th drive started off promising when Manning found WR Burress for a 20-yard gain, but then Jacobs picked up minimal yardage on the next two downs and Manning’s 3rd down pass fell incomplete.

NE 7th Drive @ own 14: Punt Returner Wes Welker muffed the punt at the Pats 22 but miraculously escaped with the ball under the pile after a squirmish took place for nearly a minute. The Pats weren’t able to do much with it after that and were forced to punt after NY DE Michael Strahan beat his blocker with a bull rush and dropped Brady for a 12-yard loss.

NY 7th Drive @ own 49: The Giants were set up with pristine field position after PR RW McQuarters fair catch, but the first play from scrimmage saw CB Asante Samuel pick Eli off for the first time this post-season and return it to the Pats 43-yard line.

NE 8th Drive @ own 43: The Pats looked to get ahead of the spread for the first time in the game, but it just wasn’t meant to be. The Giants continued to harass Brady with their pass rush and his 3rd down pass fell incomplete to end the 3rd quarter.

END OF 3rd QUARTER

4TH QUARTER

NY 8th Drive @ own 20: After Manning’s first pass was almost picked off by LB Mike Vrabel, it was clearly evident that he had been rattled so the Giants looked to the ground on their next two plays. However, both Jacobs and Bradshaw only managed to churn out a total of 6-yards and the Pats held the Giants offense to 3 and out once again

NE 9th Drive @ own 34: The Patriots then did what they’ve done all season with the final outcome of the game still in question. They took control and went on a 13-play drive that eat close to 10 minutes off the clock and saw them pick up five first downs. However, they allowed the Giants to stay in the game when they came up short in the red zone and had to settle for another FG attempt by Gostkowski. He nailed it, but Head Coach Bill Belichick was visually shaken on the sidelines as he scolded his superstar QB. NY 9 NE 16

2 MINUTE WARNING

NY 9th Drive @ own 26: With the Giants still within striking distance, Phoenix Stadium was in a frenzy as Eli and the offense took the field. With under two minutes to go and 74 yards from pay dirt, the odds were highly stacked against NY to pull off this miracle. However, the gods smiled upon the men in red white and blue and after finding TE Boss on a 2-yard out route, QB Eli Manning saw both defenders covering WR Amani Toomer run into one another ultimately allowing Toomer to break away. Eli launched the pigskin into the air and Toomer snatched it in stride and streaked all the way into the endzone for a 72-yard TD reception. The crowd erupted and we were only a 57 seconds away from history as no Super Bowl had ever gone into overtime. NY 16 NE 16

NE 10th Drive @ own 20: Shocked at what just transpired, the Patriots offense took the field knowing it needed to come up with something or else the added pressure of sudden death OT would stand in the way of their perfect season. Tom Brady looked cool as a cucumber under center and he managed to get the Pats to midfield, but the clock had become his biggest enemy. They were 20 or so yards away from Gostkowski’s range, but only had 14 seconds on the clock with 1 timeout left to do something. Brady found Wes Welker for 7-yards across the middle and the speedy WR from Texas Tech managed to dive out of bounds at the 42-yard line. With nine ticks left on the clock the Pats were looking to go to the middle of the field and stop the clock with its last remaining timeout. After the Giants called timeout to talk about it, play resumed and the 73,000+ that packed Phoenix Stadium was going bonkers. Brady had trouble right from the get go. He looked at all his options what seemed like three separate times and then fired the ball downfield at what looked to be a wide-open Randy Moss. Then all of a sudden a diving Gibril Wilson came from out of nowhere and snatched the ball right before Moss could get his hands on it for his second pick of the game. Wilson returned it to the Giants 38-yard line where he was

Greeted by a plethora of headbutts and handshakes.

Those of you that decided to throw a buck or two on the will the game go into overtime just brought home a very nice return at +1000 or better….

END OF 4th QUARTER

OVERTIME

The Patriots won the toss and elected to receive

NE 11th Drive @ own 27: The Patriots 1st play from scrimmage in the extra session saw RB Lawrence Maroney get dropped for a 3-yard loss. He picked himself up off the mat, dusted himself off, and then ripped off a 7-yard gain on 2nd down. Brady’s 3rd down pass to Welker went for 12-yards, and the Pats looked to be on their way towards the game winning drive. After an incompletion and a 4-yard gain by Maroney, Brady found Welker once again for another 1st down reception. The Giants defense appeared on its heels, but then LB Antonio Pierce came up with another huge play for the Giants stop unit. Brady looked the way of Welker one too many times, and Pierce stepped in front of Welker this time and intercepted Brady’s pass.

NY 10th Drive @ own 39: Looking to feed off the momentum their defense just gained Eli and the offense took the field knowing the Super Bowl was theirs as long as they put forth a championship type drive. It wasn’t to be however as Bradshaw’s 4-yard loss on 1st down kept them behind the chains and Manning’s next two passes looked forced as they fell incomplete. It was the Giants fourth 3 and out of the game, but this one couldn’t have come at a worse time.

NE 12th Drive @ own 28: Maybe it was all the added pressure of overtime, but the Pats offense certainly didn’t look like the unit that broke a number of records this past off-season. All three of Brady’s passes fell incomplete and they were forced to punt once again.

If you’re a Giant fan…STOP READING!!! PR McQuarters escaped the first wave of Pats’ special teamers, but was then stripped of the ball when he should have just gone down trying to gain a couple more inches. The Pats pounced on the ball and set Brady and company up with tremendous field position.

NE 12th Drive @ NY 45: RB Maroney was stonewalled on his first down carry and dropped for a 2-yard loss by a swam of Giant defenders. Brady’s next pass fell incomplete and everyone in the Stadium looked to be on their feet when the Pats offense lined up for its 3rd down play. The Pats lined ‘em up 4-wide in the shotgun formation and Brady seemingly had all day to find an open receiver. He slung the ball deep to a wide-open Randy Moss who got past both defenders and scampered into the endzone for a 46-yard TD reception. His first of the post-season, but the most important one of all.

Congratulations to the NE Patriots for an undefeated season (19-0) and winning their 4th Super Bowl in the L/7 years!!!!
