NBA Betting - New Orleans (- 7) vs. Los Angeles (+ 7)

The Hornets take a trip to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers. The Clippers just can’t get a break. They are once again one of the worst teams in the NBA. They were on a six game losing streak before beating the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. The chances of the Clippers winning two in a row is pretty minimal. It might be a different story against the spread, though, right?
Wrong. Check-out these basketball betting trends:
The Los Angeles Clippers are 2 and 7 against the spread in their last 9 versus a team from the NBA Southwest Division.
The Los Angeles Clippers are 3 and 9 against the spread in their last 12 games at home.
The New Orleans Hornets are 10 and 1 against the spread in their last 11 versus a team from the NBA Pacific Division.
The New Orleans Hornets are 10-5-1 against the spread in their last 16 away games this season.
The New Orleans Hornets are simply the better team in this situation. Even though they are giving up 7 points to the home team, the Los Angeles Clippers, I see very little benefit in even thinking about wagering on the Clippers in this game.
The Hornets should dominate because of both their excellent point-guard, Chris Paul, as well has their master strategist, Coach Byron Scott. Scott will find a way to get Paul off in this one and that’s all the Hornets will need in order to dominate the Clippers.
The Clippers have nobody that can score on their team. Their best player, Sam Cassell, is too old to dominate the way he used to and Chris Kaman, their top inside presence, can’t separate himself from the other big men in the NBA. Without Elton Brand the Clippers’ team just isn’t very good.
