Basketball Betting - Houston Rockets (+ 7.5) vs. Denver Nuggets (- 7.5)
The Rockets travel to the Denver to take on the Nuggets. Usually, I would suspect this spread to be 6 points or less. There’s a reason that it’s so high. Before I get into that, we need to take a look at some basketball betting trends:
The Houston Rockets are 2 and 6 against the spread in their last 8 versus a team from the NBA Northwest Division.
The Denver Nuggets are 1 and 8 against the spread in their last 9 versus a team from the NBA Southwest.
The Houston Rockets are 18-8-3 against the spread in their last 29 games on a Thursday night.
These trends point to a close game, right? I mean, the Nuggets and Rockets both have super-star players at the guard position - - -
Wait a second, the injury report states that T-Mac is doubtful in tonight’s game. If that is the case, then the Nuggets should win this one by at least ten points.
The problem is that without T-Mac, the Houston Rockets have little chance of containing either Carmelo Anthony on the wing or Allen Iverson at the top of the key. Simply put, the Rockets do not have another scorer on their team capable of playing with either Iverson or Anthony.
That makes this game a fairly easy one to call. The Nuggets are capable of scoring at will while the Rockets will have trouble finding anyone who wants to score. Yao Ming is not a bad player, for the Rockets, but let’s be honest, he’s way too nice of a guy to have things his own way in the lane.
Anthony and Iverson, meanwhile, will do all they can to make sure that the Rockets are buried in tonight’s game.
