Basketball Betting - Portland (+ 3.5) vs. Chicago (- 3.5)
By D.S. Williamson
The Portland Trailblazers are coming off a win versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. Without a doubt this is one of the hottest, if not the hottest, team in the NBA. They’re young, talented, and willing to play team defense which is what you need to do in order to succeed in the NBA.
What about the Chicago Bulls? Uh…let’s look at some trends first:
The Portland Trailblazers are 14 and 3 against the spread in their last 17 games overall.
The Chicago Bulls are 5 and 9 against the spread at home so far this year.
The Portland Trailblazers have gone 10 and 1 straight-up in their last 11 games.
The Chicago Bulls are a mess of a team. I shall repeat it again - - without a player who has that killer instinct, the Bulls will never, ever, sniff the NBA Championship. Neither Ben Gordon nor Luol Deng is willing to take it on the chin for the Bulls.
They will continue to be losers until they find a player willing to do that. It doesn’t help that their top player, Ben Wallace, couldn’t make a free-throw if the basket were the only thing left on earth with gravity.
This is a huge opportunity for NBA bettors to get a nice money-line wager down on a team who has been as impressive as any this season. The Trailblazers are loaded with college basketball all-stars: Brandon Roy, Jarret Jacks, LeMarcus Aldridge…shall I go one? If there is one thing college basketball players know how to do, it’s play as a unit. That is what has happened with this team.
Roy has proven to be an acceptable leader, Aldridge is becoming one of the better big men in the NBA, and Jarret Jacks just loves to pass the rock.
This is a very talented team led by one of the underrated NBA coaches in the game, Nate McMillan. The former Seattle Sonics all-star has turned this team around. Kudos to him.
So, with the trends in their favor, better players, a better coach - - what the heck is going on with this spread?
If the Greeks created this spread, then I’d have to wonder. They didn’t, though, so there’s no wondering allowed. Don’t worry if you didn’t get the literary allusion. Just wager on the Blazers to win this one outright.
The BetUS NBA betting line is Portland Trailblazers + 3.5 against the spread on the road versus the Chicago Bulls.
I like the Blazers.
